20 Helping the Boer family!

Burma took her leave and left everything in Birma's hands. Birma knew that they had to win the favor of the Lea family. The reason was simple, they wanted to save Kyus city and their status was something they were willing to give up in order for the Lea family's plan to succeed.

Birma guided Lufti towards their cattle. As they talked more and more, Birma realized that she was not so different compared to Lufti. Both of them loved animals a lot and they disliked fighting. They loved their families and would put them before themselves at all costs. Birma and Lufti had a lot in common, and that only made Birma feel more reassured about her grandmother's choice.

Since she was little and accompanied her grandmother, several families came up to the Boers with different deals. After witnessing the direct confrontation between the Lea family and the Kriger family and their way to deal with others, she was sure the Kriger were done for.

Lufti wasn't only respectful during the trip, he also listened to Birma and never interrupted her. He apologized for his little sister when she did or asked something out of place and even if he scolded her, he always did it with love and using the right words. He never mistreated his sister nor did he put Birma down for her lack of knowledge compared to himself. Instead, he paid close attention to what she said in order to not make a mistake.

Birma told him that right now, they were having trouble finding clear water for the cattle. The water they used came from a spring that was in the center of the Boer territory. It has been a long time since the Boer family started using it and It hasn't dwindled at all during those hundred of years. But now, surprisingly, the spring started to dry. The water is fine, but as there is less and less water every year they will have to come up with an alternative sooner or later.

At first they were going to ask for water from the other family territories, but the Lea family arrived. They suggested to help with the problems and also to implement new ideas. What to do? Well, Birma decided to share this problem with Lufti and Lufti's answer did not dissapoint her.

"Everyone relies from springs, lakes and other bodies of water in order to satisfy their thrist. In the middle of the forest these places are always surrounded by predators and prey. Despite us calling them prey, they are strong animals in the end and sometimes they travel and drink water in packs. Facing them wouldn't pose a real problem to my brothers and me in the short run, but in the long run they would beat us due to exhaustation. That's why we came up with a different idea" Lufti, reaching into his bag he took out a blue wolf gland. "This is a blue wolf gland. They use it to shoot pressured water or to create mist in order to hunt with more efficiency. Different animals have different sizes and different specialities. As I said before, blue wolves use it for creating mist and launching attacks from their preys blind spot. So, miss Birma, what is mist actually?" smiled Lufti as he took all the glands out.

"Mist is, water right? But even if we can produce mist they have a limited amount of water inside" replied Birma as she inspected one of this peculiar organs.

"Yes and no. Yes, mist is basically water and no, they don't have a limited amount of water inside. The amount of water is unlimited. Why? Well, we go back to beginning, to drinking water. Blue wolves are cunning and great at hunting in packs but they're not strong and there are plenty of faster animals than them. That is why, their glands have a special way of producing and storing water. They draw it from the air. In order to draw good amounts of water, blue wolves live in caves where you can find this item" said Lufti as he lifted a shining blue rock.

"What kind of rock is that?" asked Birma as she reached the rock with her hands. Once she grabbed it, she realized it was wet. No matter how many times she tried to 'dry' the rock be it with her hands or with a piece of cloth she couldn't dry it.

"That is a moisture rock. It draws the humidity of the enviroment towards itself and preserves it in the surroundings. Now this is what we will do. We will prepare a container, this container should have 4 parts and be big enough to store water inside. In the top part, we will put the moisture rocks, these rocks will draw in the humidity of the water towards the barrell, but this comparment should be sealed in order to keep the rocks relatively dry. In the second part, the blue wolves glands will be placed. As many as you can find, even if they're not from blue wolves as long as they are glands from a blue animal they will be useful. While this part will be completely covered, the lower layer should have small holes. As these glands do not belong to living animals, they lost the ability to store water but not the ability to draw it towards them. So as soon as they are full, the water will start to leak out and fall into the third part. This third part should be filled with the following. At the bottom a layer of cloth, make sure it's good at absorbing water. On top of that we will add carbon to remove chemicals and contaminants, on top of that sand and at the top of it all gravel. These will filter impurities. The gravel will filter large ones and the sand the finer ones. As long as the glands keep absorving water they will not go bad and they will not rot. They will draw in so much water that the cloth will only be another filter. Once a week make sure to change all of it and never but never ever disclose this to other families without our permision. We are sharing these ideas out of goodwill and we hope that you will also keep your end of the bargain when it comes to this" Lufti explained the whole process once more, but this time he took a bunch of tools, gravel, sand, carbon, cloth and did it himself in a small jar. This jar was the one the Lea used to drink from in the forest. Once Birma tasted the clear and sweet water that came from this experiment she was thrilled to start implementing this on the Boer family fields.

"Now, this is one thing but I wanted to ask you. How do you deal with stagnant water?" asked Lufti with a dubious face.

"Well, this is one of the reasons why we're so happy about the previous way to draw water. We have no choice but to throw it away or use it to water the crops" replied Birma as she rubbed her chin.

"Well, I've got with me a small buddy that might help with that" Lufti took out a small cage out of his bag and a weird looking crayfish was inside. It was blue in color with small violet spots. "This one is Fred. Well, it's how we named him. This variant of blue crayfish loves to eat bacteria, parasites and many other eggs laid by insects. With him, you can have crystal clear water and he doesn't need to go out to breathe. It's an amazing buddy that has helped us many times during droughts. Still, this is not the only way to deal with stagnant water" Lufti took out a piece of rock of a green color, it was long and looked like a stick but it's crystalline luster betrayed his disguise. "This is a weird rock that we haven't named yet. When watering crops, rainwater or spring water are the best because they contain certain minerals that we can not get with the blue wolves glands. But if you put this rock at the bottom of any body of water it will grow richer in nutrients and plants love that. What do you think miss Birma? Am I being useful?" said Lufti as he smiled at her with all honesty.
