Ch4 : Skeletons and Wasted Food

On the other side of the world from where Ivy is, inside a dark alley in the midnight, a shadow is seen hugging another. After a while the one being hugged slip onto the ground, just as several other that are already on the ground. "Ah, with this one I got myself enough for several days" said the figure while licking her lips smeared by blood. 'I should open my gift and take a look at it before searching for little sis.'

Rinko thought this ability is perfect for her as controlling blood property can make her attacks more deadly. Just when she is thinking about her ability a group of shadows appear out of nowhere near her. She glance at the group and become annoyed as she see their forms. she thought, 'Are they infected walkers or reanimated corpses... It is really troublesome if they are reanimated corpses. The only good new here is they are lowest rank. Honestly undead are most annoying ones for blood suckers like me.'

After looking them sometime, Rinko just slip into the darkness and go away without minding the group of mindless things. rinko didn't want to entangle with the guys and waste her time for finding her sister without getting anything profitable.

After gaining the ability Ivy try testing the ability on the birds outside her room. she thought it is really a good one as she see the birds dying just from fear alone. After thinking for a while she decide to go to the school campus to test it out on humans. She find out the fear induction is depend on fear the target initially had as most of the humans targeted are just slightly intimidated. After trying out for sometimes Ivy finds that appearance, notoriety, equipment, as well as her action affect fear induction. Pretty suitable for people like me she thought. Just as she is testing on number of targets and effective range slight distortions appear all over the campus and groups of skeletons wearing tattered robes and holding all kind of weapons appear.

'Great!' Ivy thought. 'For a skeleton horde to appear near something like me, I mean what are the chances.' Ivy retorted as she is looking at the running crowd and the skeletons that are killing them. She thought people are retarded as they already know the invasion is coming and yet they didn't prepare anything to defend themselves and even panic when facing the skeletons. Ivy thought if people here all hold pipes or somethings and some people hold things like shield to defend, they can easily takes on the groups of skeleton with some casualties as they have more people. As Ivy is looking there are some people fighting back with the equipment they got from system. She saw some pretty interesting abilities as well and speculate that they are people who successfully evolved into Rank 1.

As she was thinking about how many of the lucky people like them are there in the whole world, the group fighting with skeletons starts to appear some injured and dead as they are facing more skeletons than their number. The fighting group only has a couple dozens people, which compare to hundreds of people a while ago, looks pitiful. Although skeletons are mostly mindless beings, they retain their original creature's behaviour and instinct which make them perfect killing machine as they knows no fear.

After fighting for a while the group's fighting ability become lower and lower as more death appear. The group is facing more skeletons as other people basically run away to safety. Ivy decided to help them as she still need people for her own uses. She wield her halberd and jump into the sea of skeleton, sweeping a full moon around herself. After Ivy involve in the battle the pressure of the group lessen as they just have to defend themselves from a few skeleton. Most of the skeleton charge toward Ivy as they can feel the dangerous atmosphere radiating from her. The skeletons charge waves after waves to no avail as most of their weapon are shorter than halberd. Ivy just have to sweep her halberd as the skeletons walk into their impeding doom. The battle ended without much suspend after a short while as the students are panting heavily. Although some of them evolved into rank 1 without the prior experiment they have to use much more energy than they need to defeat the skeletons. It is fortunate that these skeletons are rank 0 as 4 or 5 rank 1 skeletons can basically killed most of them.After the group rest for a while, they thank Ivy for saving them.

"Don't worry, we can be consider fellow student from the same school after all. After I walk out of my dorm, I saw you guys fighting with skeletons. I can't leave you guys alone as humans need to stick together for the time like this, isn't it. My name is Ivy Alby. Just call me Ivy."

A young man with tall and thing body walk out of the group and introduced himself as the vice president of archery club. He lead the group to come here to convey the students from dormitory that school authority decided to make the hall as a safe house and the school security and some police forces would garrison in the hall to defend it. As the group is waiting for all the students in dormitory to present and announce the new, the skeletons waves started and they have to defend the rest of the students. It is fortunate that the group told the students about the new before they run away.

"Then let's go to the hall now. I doubt there is hardly anybody alive left here" as she said, Ivy glance around the battlefield fill with piles of broken bones and blood and chopped limps. The place is full of gore that some weak students are vomiting after their initial hot-head. Ivy was slightly out of place as she keep pitying about the fact that she can't eat them as her biomass storage is full. After the vomiting people recover they hold the injured ones and go to the direction of hall.

Inside the hall which is filled with sobbing and shuddering people, Ivy watch the polices and school authorities calming the people and thought they are doing useless things. She thought they should secure food and safety first as, it isn't known whether the invaders will appear directly inside the hall. If they can appear directly inside the building and room forever, there is no safe place on the world for those with weak mind at all. They should just use this time adapting themselves with fighting.

"Miss Ivy, you should register yourself with the leaders. They said they are going to distribute food and water according to the ability and contribution. I will told them your contribution this time. If you excuse me miss Ivy, I need to go and report the president about casualties." said the archery vice-president.

After considering for a while, Ivy decided to register first and search someplace to stay temporarily. Staying with a large group of people is good to find some talents she want, as well as she didn't have to worry about food. The invaders being a group of skeleton left her annoy as skeletons didn't give much biomass, let alone the ones from god knows how many years ago.

After registering herself, she decided to go to the roof and stay there as she looks around for some tent. Living at the same place with food is bad for self-discipline, as she couldn't thought herself having to hold back from eating. After finding some tent and setting it up on the roof of the hall, she decided to search for the uses of defender system, as well as evolve herself with biomass. Looking at the body litter across the battlefield and can't eat them because of the full biomass storage still left her with rage.
