Brotherhood

Rays of light on the horizon slowly appear, painting an amber color into the sky. As the chilling wind blows, a flood of 100,000 giant insects were swarming toward the direction of Grand Kaliweir.

In front of this swarm were <Metal-armored Bugs> followed by a group of 30–meter long <Giant Centipedes>---- bulldozing down the trees on their path.

The ground is also pulsating---

A thousand of <Underground Arachnid> burrows through it.

There are also loud buzzing on the air--- a large amount of <Poseidon beetles> were leading a swarm of black locust.

At the rear of this army, is a giant <Dust Kaiju>. This monster has little combat capability but a very convenient transportation.

There were currently five people on its back--- three of them are the Demon lord's Generals. Desrook a <Botanic druid>, Savant the <Dark necromancer> and Emerald wasp an <Entomancer>.

And sitting above the throne behind them was their lord, Hannigan.

'Finally the time for our revenge has come!'--- most people thinks that he was invading Grand Kaliweir for its manatite ore, but that was far from the truth.

_______

_______

Demon Lord Hannigan was once a captain of the Alfonse army. He had serve that Kingdom for fifteen whole years together with his half-older brother.

In the past, there was once a commoner who was conferred to nobility after fighting and winning two great wars. His status keeps climbing up as he fights on the battlefield.

Fifteen years later, his Legion has reached 300,000 men--- he carries the title "Lionhearted General" while sweeping away his enemies on the battlefield.

With his growing reputation, the King felt threatened--- since those soldiers were more loyal to their General than to him.

During one of their secret mission, they were ambushed after an information was intentionally leaked to the enemy. Since this is a secret mission, they only brought with them a handful of trusted warriors--- resulting on them being totally outnumbered.

In that fight, 6 black hooded man suddenly joined in and assassinated his brother. The <Lionhearted General> fought valiantly until the end--- trying to buy some time for his brother and subordinates to escape.

Hannigan only managed to escape after jumping down a forbidden chasm were a lot of strange monsters live.

_______

_______

The Grand Kaliweir can now be seen tens of kilometers away---

'You are going to be the first one to die.'

A deep hatred seethes in his eyes, as he stares at that city.

During that ambush ten years ago, he managed to see the identity of one of the six attacker--- it was duke Kaliweir, the strongest Mage of the Alfonse Kingdom, who bows his head to no one except for the King.

When Hannigan has rallied his army, he was not that confident on winning this war. He knows that the Duke have twenty <Silver-rank> mages under him, while the duke himself is a <Golden-rank>.

But he cannot hold back this thirst for vengeance anymore.

Ten years!--- he was enduring this hatred for far too long, he must kill at least one of them!

But three days ago, this black robe man standing beside him showed up. He said that he was willing to assist him on killing the duke, in exchange for the things under that city.

Hannigan could definitely feel the danger coming off from this man, but it was laughable for this man to think, that he alone could turn the tides of this war.

That until the black robe man presented him a <Summoning Item>, which he and his generals cannot appraised properly.

According to the black robed man, it's a Tier 6 summoning item that calls upon three 15-meter golems that are immune to Tier 5 magic and has a <Middle-Tier Physical Nullification>.

They can last up to three hours, or until it runs out of mana.

Hannigan doesn't fully trust him, but their objective overlaps--- so they will be working together temporarily.

After all connections are made for benefits.

"Savant!--- summon your armies of undead and attack the east gate. I'll order my poseidon beetles and its locust go with you. Desrook!--- assist him. Let my insects become the cannon fodders, focus on eliminating those mystic cannons on the wall."

Someone has to destroy those magic cannons on the east gate. After all, their firing range are very long and could extent to the northern gate.

"The rest of us will take the northern gate, I can see that they had focus most of their silver robe mages there."

---he then turns his attention towards Emerald wasp, "Follow the arranged plan while we create a distraction."

''Now go!---''

"As you command, Great Demon Lord!----"

'Hmm, it seems that old bastard is still lying in wait to observe the situation.'

Hannigan then retrieved a <Message scroll>.

*szzz*--- it disintegrated after being activated.

Hannigan started speaking to the person on the other end---

"Old friend, we have a chance, it's time---"

_______

_______

"Old friend, we have a chance, it's time to take revenge for our fallen General."

---after receiving this message, he knows that his sworn brother is confident enough on winning.

After all--- Hannigan would never drag them out in the open, if they would just suffer a meaningless death.

"Stupid kid, even if you have already sacrificed your humanity to gain more power, still call us

---Brother."

The old mercenary fondly remembers the young captain.

He then takes his large broadsword and went out of his tent. Outside, his comrades greeted him with excitement.

"Barlow!--- good thing we managed to arrive before the war begins. Hahaha."

---the big Goulde laugh loudly as always before a fight.

"Frazier you look anxious, don't worry we're only assigned to fight giant insects. With the strength of our team, maybe we could even fight a demon lord's General."

----Reese said while raising his wooden staff, showing off his cool side.

Seeing this, Barlow can't help but feel regret, this ragtag group might disband today.

"Everyone, I have something important to say, come with me inside the tent for a moment."

Barlow then turns around, leaving his friends puzzled as they followed him inside the tent.

"We don't have much time, so I'm going to say this directly to you. Remember the things I have shared to you all when we survived that mission in the Fallen Kingdom?"

--- he seriously said as he looked at each one of them.

"Fuck, and there goes my plan of marrying a noble lady in the capital."

Frazier finally realizes why he was feeling anxious since yesterday. But there's no need to ask about his choice, Barlow can see in his eyes the determination to follow the <Blood Lion>.

*pah*--- Goulde beats his chest to show his answer.

Since the day Barlow and Luke had rescued him from hands of a Dark Priest, he promised to himself that he would follow this group until the day it was disbanded.

Luke was just sitting there silently, waiting for the war to start. He and Barlow were both soldiers who had fought wars under the banner of the <Lion-hearted General> in the past.

As for Reese, he doesn't give a fuck about the King of this country, since he is from a neighbouring continent.

And for some unknown reason--- he deeply despises cruel rulers.

The five of them has reached a mutual decision, then they tied a red clothing around their arm.

As they arrive at their assigned position, some of the hired mercenaries shifted their attention to them since they are the famous <Blood Lion> group.

Some onlookers were in awe, while others started to retell their achievements to their comrades.

There were also some who had a murderous light flash in their eyes when they saw those red armbands. To this people, Barlow just gave them a slight nod.

While this small commotion was is happening, the war horn was sounded.

_______

At the Eastern gate.

A very old <Silver-rank> mage is currently watching the waves of giant insects surging towards them. Since their priority is defending, all of them are currently at the top of the wall.

Mages like them who have an arsenals of long-range magics, have a great advantage for a wall defence.

As one of the oldest silver-rank mage, Pallandro was given a squadron of 100 green-rank mages and 200 hired mercenaries.

Those flying insects will be handled by the mercenaries, once they landed on the surface at the top of the wall.

"Mages! Those are black locust--- they are easily killed using Tier 3 magics. They only depend on their great number and speed to kill their targets."

"Prepare yourself!---"

:

:

"They're closing in into our firing range!---"

:

[Fireball]!

[Slow]!

[Slow]!

[Fireball]!

[Thunderball]!

[Fireball]!

A barrage of magics flies toward the swarm of black locust. A lot of ashes started raining down, but they still keep coming like an endless wave.

Suddenly, a huge buzzing sound caught everyone's attention, a group of poseidon beetles were now charging towards them.

*snort*--- [Fly] !

Pallandro flew into the air and started casting one of his strongest magic.

He then pointed his staff at the beetle's swarm---

[Grand Fireball]!

An enormous mass of flame was directly blasted downwards, engulfing the poseidon beetles and the swarm of black locust.
