4 IV. Acquaintances?

My attention swiftly returned to Celesty. I observed her as she directed her gaze downward towards me, her eyes filled with a penetrating intensity and emotionless face.

"emotionless face?" Celesty asks.

"Ah, never mind that." I better think carefully from this point on. To clear up the topic in my head, I focused on asking what she meant by the man in armor being nonexistent.

"He is my familiar," Celesty said after she read the paragraph above this.

Well, that was fast

"What was fast?" Celesty asks.

"Nothing, what do you mean by familiars?" I asked

The two looked at each other for a moment.

"He really is weird," the man in armor replied.

Ouch.

Shortly afterward, Celesty took the time to enlighten me about the enigmatic concept of familiars in this realm.

Although the precise nature of familiars remains a mystery to most, they are believed to be wandering spirits who have not yet found their way to the afterlife and are in search of guidance.

Only a select few , like Celesty herself , possess the rare ability to communicate with these ethereal entities. Somehow, I do so too. As Celesty provided me with a concise explanation, two wagons arrived, accompanied by a group of distinguished and formidable soldiers.

Evidently their presence in the town was intended to lend assistance to the locals. Imbued with extraordinary abilities, these soldiers effortlessly summoned forth a kind of magic, using it to manipulate the debris that littered the area, guiding it back to its original position.

"Its repair magic" Celesty said.

Ah, oh yeah, I forgot, she can read my thoughts… Indeed, the notion of magic and its captivating nature is truly mesmerizing to behold. Just as I had previously summarized based on my observations, each distinct type of magic possesses its own unique hue.

It is intriguing to note that offensive spells primarily manifest in shades of blue and red, capable of inflicting harm upon their targets. Conversely, defensive spells predominantly take on the colors of green and yellow, serving as a safeguard against potential threats.

Furthermore, there exist other shades unlike any defined category, which can be deemed as mysterious and unexplained colors within the magical spectrum.

Celesty, out of curiosity, extended an invitation for me to visit her home. Her family is renowned for their unique abilities in communicating with unworldly beings, just like familiars.

This piqued my interest, as I yearned to uncover the secrets behind comprehending these beings despite not being native to this world. Interestingly, Celesty refrained from inquiring about this particular topic, which left me intrigued.

"You're not the first one to arrive here from a different world," Celesty said.

As we settled inside the wagon, the jolting bumps on the road swayed us slightly but we managed to maintain our balance. It's my first time riding one.

The afternoon sunlight poured through the white cloth ceiling, casting a beautiful play of shadows from the leafy trees we passed by. Celesty and the armored man occupied the seats in front of me, while I sat alone on the opposite side. Next to me, I noticed their weapons neatly placed.

"It's Kev…" Celesty said.

"yes that's me," the man in armor replied.

"You should really stop calling him as the man in armor, I bet you've grown tired already with writing the whole the man in armor in your thoughts."

Believe me, I do.

---

Kev was discovered by Celesty during one of her missions, to provide calrification, she found him lying on the ground near a heap of garbage.

According to her instructions, she was tasked with cleaning up the aftermath of a late-night party, which had taken an unexpected turn when she accidentally flung a piece of cake onto the king's face.

This incident seemed more like a punishment to me than a mere coincidence.

Celesty suddenly looked at me dead straight.
