289 288. Survival instinct

Alister's eyelids fluttered again. He didn't know how long he had been in a trance, but as he opened his eyes to the ceiling, he felt that his sudden seizure had subsided. He lifted his hand and held it out in front of his eyes. A brief wave of relief washed over him when he saw that he wasn't shaking at all. He still felt weak but at least he didn't feel like he was going to pass out anymore. The vampire put his hand on his chest and heaved a sigh of satisfaction.

"Feeling better?"

He froze completely upon hearing the voice of the person who had just spoken to him. The tremors that had stopped slowly started again and Alister slowly turned his head to make eye contact with Ryans who was sitting on the ground with his back leaning against one of the walls of the small cave.

"Y-yes! I-I'm alright."

"Good!"
