2 Chapter 2: First Invitation

"In this country, police system is based on ranking, from the lowest, rank D to the highest rank S. All the mission will be match with the difficulty and their ranks. For example, rank D usually will do roadblocks, fight riots, or escort some VIPs and so on. Rank C usually will handle a situation like a small scale of robbery, kidnapping case within the kidnappers less than three person, or protect the border when there is any attack. Rank B will handle ambushing cases, but not as dangerous as rank A. Rank A and B is similar, ambushing scenes like terrorism, drug dealers, and bank robberies. It is depending for the rank S to choose which rank is suitable to be his subordinates for the mission. Rank S just for the lieutenants, captains, and commanders. I guess you guys know it from the academy, but I just remind you about it" the instructor briefing.

Fortunately, Kai got the B rank as he passed all the test with flying colours except the essay test, he just two mark short to receive the A rank. However, it is not like what he expected.

"Why? I am in B rank, but all I do is patrolling in the first half of my shift and writing reports like a clerk in the second half of the shift" Kai complained out loud at his workspace.

"What are you complained about? You should be grateful you are not chosen for a mission yet. Doing our rank missions is like commit suicide, we don't know if we complete the mission alive. Wait, we don't even know if the mission is complete or not" said one of his seniors near him. Kai focused to what his senior just said and think that the senior got a point.

"Anyway, as a junior, may you help me send this report to the chief's room. The system broke down again" asked his senior all of sudden.

"Huh you just use your senior power at me" Kai sighed.

"Why not? You said you are bored, why not you take a walk by helping me" said his senior with an annoying smile.

"Yeah whatever, give me the report" said Kai while taking the report from his senior's hand, then proceed to walk to the chief's office.

He went to the highest level of the building and searching for the chief's room as it was his first time reached there.

He read a room with a sign "Chief of Police" and he said "maybe this is the room". By the time he about to open the door, he heard a conversation.

"This is your mission tonight, you two going to ambush the old hospital, where the drug dealer will have a business with his client, according to our intel" said by someone with a deep voice.

"Why you want us to do this mission instead of sending rank A and rank B to ambush immediately?" said by a familiar voice.

"This voice feels like I heard somewhere before" Kai thought.

"If can, I already do that, but I guess they will protect the perimeter of the hospital. If I send people to ambush right away, they will notice that and they will have time to act. So, I think I will just send two people who capable to handle 30 people in a time" said the deep voice guy.

"Are you praising me? Hahahaha thank you boss" said the familiar voice with joking tone.

"Stop playing around! And please, call me chief!" said the deep voice guy strictly.

"Yeah yeah, I'll try later. Alright, we are heading off to do some preparation" said the familiar voice.

Suddenly the door opened while Kai is peeping, listen to them. Kai panicked, then fall himself. He saw Zen opened the door, with Reina, the woman he saw calling Zen at the training room, and a bald African-like man, sitting at his desk.

"Oh kid! What are you doing here?" Zen greet.

"I… I want to send this report to chief" Kai stuttering.

"Yo boss! May I bring this kid also tonight? He skill is outrages! I guess he will be a help if I bring him" asked Zen to the chief casually.

"I SAID CALL ME CHIEF! Huh, kid, what is your rank?" said the Chief.

"I am in rank B" Kai answered.

"I guess I can accept your request, Zen. But remember one thing, if something happens to him, you will take full responsible. He is not like you, and I don't want he be like you guys" said the chief.

"Yes, I will, don't worry" said Zen.

Kai then handover the report that the senior asked him to send, then Zen and Reina bringing Kai with them, get out from the room, to make a preparation together. But before Zen, closed the door, he asked chief with a serious tone "oh I almost forgot, kill or not kill?". That question makes Kai shocked, asking himself what type of question that is, with the mood changing so drastically.

"No kill, we maybe can collect more information from them" said the chief.

"Understood, chief" said Zen with a serious voice.

"Alright! Now let's show you the weapons room. You never reach the room yet right?" said Zen with a cheerful voice all of sudden. Kai just shook his head as a sign he never reaches the room.

In the elevator, Kai wants to ask Zen "Zen, may I know what your rank is?".

"Oh, we reached the basement floor! The floor where the weapons room is" Zen not answering the question.

Kai tried to ask one more time "again, may I know your rank, Zen?".

"Do not worry, after this, I will treat you some dinner if we complete this mission successfully" once more, Zen not answering the question.

"Maybe he doesn't want to answer the question for now" Kai thought.

They then stood in front of the room's door, Zen show the mission's file to the guards, and the guards opened the room's iron door.

Kai amazed looking there was a lot of weapons there, from melee weapons, handguns, rifles, even the rocket launcher.

"Alright Kid, take anything you think suitable for you. Then, I will brief the plan" said Zen with a smile.

Kai who is still shocked with the room, try to take all the weapons he likes until his body and hands full of weapons and cannot move normally because too heavy.

"Hahaha you're so funny, Kid! Just take what you need. Maybe a MP-5 is good for you" said Zen while laughing. Zen then took a random handgun with silencer and a knife, meanwhile Reina took a sniper rifle.

"Oh, I forgot knives here are not that nice. Reina, remind me later to buy a karambit" said Zen to Reina while checking the knives there.

"Roger that" said Reina mood less.

"Oh, you just take a handgun and a knife?" asked Kai.

"Yes, boss said no kill. So, I scared if I overdo it. So, I just use small weapons" said Zen.

"This guy has a big confident to himself" thought Kai.

"Alright gather here, let me brief the plan" Zen started to brief his plan. He lay a plan of the old hospital.

"I will start with you, kid. You will wear police uniform as usual. With your skill, I guess you can take one or two people there. Reina, as usual, stay at a building about 300 meters from the hospital. Snipe any people who try to take me down from the blind spot. Oh, I almost forgot, you will use this device to keep communicate with us" said Zen while hand over an earpiece to Kai.

"How about you?" ask Kai.

"I will blend with them by wearing casual outfit. Then, I will do my job that I guess not important to brief here" answer Zen.

Later that night, they went to the mission place.

"This is my first mission. I really want this type of mission, but I never know the pressure is like this" thought Kai.

"Alright ready everyone? Go!" Zen started the operation.

Kai then increases his confident, then enter the hospital. Just by the time he entered, he already saw someone is guarding the place.

"Zen, I saw a person guarding at my starting point, east of the hospital, should I proceed?" He asked Zen through the device.

"Hello? Hello?! Zen?!" Kai doesn't get any answer. "I guess, I just do what Zen said in the planning before" Kai made up his mind.

He then charged silently into the guy and melee attack him with MP-5 on his head until the guy knocked out.

"Oh, it is not that hard to knock someone" said Kai.

Unfortunately, there was someone behind him that he was not aware of. The guy knocked him off.

After a few moments, he woke up with a pain on his head.

"Where am I?" he slowly opened his eyes.

Shockingly, he tied on the chair while the drug dealer, the client, and all their subordinates watching at him.

"Oi kid, you are real police, right? Where the others? Usually, police will not send a single person to interrupt a business transaction like this. Now tell me, where is the other?" asked the leader but Kai doesn't answer that.

"Oh, you want to play the hard way, eh? Wait, what is this?" the leader took the earpiece from Kai then try to talk to the earpiece "hello? Anybody there? I got your people as a hostage here. Come, save him if you guys brave enough" the leader tried to communicate but there is no respond.

The leader then threw it to the ground, then stomp on it until it breaks into piece. "I guess they don't care about you because they know, I am the biggest drug dealer in this country, or most people called me Gluttony. Don't worry, I will not kill you. You are precious to us. I want to know all the police information in your mind, can you?" said the leader, Gluttony.

Kai keeps his mouth shut.

"Oh, you don't want to cooperate? Ok then" said Gluttony, then kick Kai on the face. But Kai keeps silent. Then he got punch into the face.

For no reason, Kai's fear fades away, then he shouted "I will not tell you! Even my life on the line! I will not! I will never cooperate with someone like you!"

"Alright then. Guys, beat him up. I have business to be done" Gluttony asked their subordinates to attack.

When everyone charging to beat Kai, there is one person who is not charging, makes Gluttony weird. Gluttony then saw the guy is wearing an earpiece.

"Guys stop! There is a police officer among us!" Gluttony shouted but the guy smiling.

The guy, which is Zen said "Oh my… I am busted. Now let's go to the next session. Ready Reina!".
