16 Chapter 16: Work Trip

A few weeks later from the library incident, they live like normal, doing their task as policemen.

One day, Kai just finished a shift and went back to his new rented apartment at night. When he arrived home, he took a shower, having a dinner, and get ready to sleep. Just as he about to lie down on his bed, someone was knocking on his apartment door.

Kai went to the door with a grumpy mood and said "Who is coming at this time?". He opened the door and saw Zen in front of him saying "yo!".

Kai with his grumpy face, asked Zen "what do you want at this time?".

Zen smiled and replied "don't be so grumpy. I just come here to check about your wound from Reina's bullet if it already heal. Ahhh, I knew I shouldn't let Reina played with those dangerous stuff".

Kai replied while staring at Zen with dissatisfied face "Don't blame others, you were the one who ordered Reina to shoot me".

Zen picking his ears, acting like he didn't hear anything "what you say again?".

Kai asked Zen "ok then, tell me, what do you want with me at this time?".

Zen with an exciting voice, replied to Kai "oh about that. You want to go to a work trip with me?".

Kai asked "work trip? where?".

Zen replied to Kai with a question "do you know The Paradise Between Two Mountain?".

Kai face suddenly change from grumpy to excited after listened to Zen question. Kai replied "is it… Silika Highland?! Heaven of entertainment?! Everything from casino, shopping, theme park, resort, in one place, with the main attraction of the long bridge that connected the two mountains?!".

Zen replied "yes sir! So, you want to join me?".

Kai replied "of course I do! I always want to go there since school!".

Zen smiled and turned his back, getting away from Kai while saying "ok then, meet me at HQ tomorrow, we going to go shopping before we go there".

Kai became clueless after listened to Zen "shopping? What does he mean? Why we need to shop here, in the city, instead of shopping there?", but Kai just forgot about it and went to sleep with excitement to go to his dream trip.

In the next morning, Kai came to the HQ with a bright, happy smile. He walked through the hallway and came across Reina.

Kai greets her with the happy face "yo Reina!".

Reina replied with a question with a blank face "yo. Why with the happy face?".

Kai replied "Zen invited me to go to Silika Highland!".

Reina replied "oh he also invited you. I guess he not telling you to the fullest".

Kai face changed from a happy to a clueless face and asked "the fullest?".

Zen suddenly appeared and greeted both of them "guten tag! It looks like you guys already here. Come, let's go meet the Chief first, then we can make our preparation".

Three of them went to the Chief's room. Without knocking, Zen just entered Chief's office rudely, and greeted the Chief with a loud voice and a smiley face "Chief! We are here!".

Chief scolded Zen immediately "Can't you please improve your manners?! How many times I asked you to do that!".

Zen ignored what the Chief said, but his eyes focusing to a person with a police uniform and a white cowboy hat on his head.

The guy greeted Zen "howdy Zen, long time no see. You still haven't change, ey?".

Zen replied with a smile keep on his face "welcome back, vice chief. Is your job done?".

Vice chief replied "it looks like it. But I will not stay here for long, I got a new job to do later. This country, never let me rest, ey?", then he laughed. He then stood up and walk to the exit door, and said "well you want to discuss about your new task, about Greed, right? Goodluck then. If you come back later, maybe we can have a dinner together", then he walked away.

Kai was clueless and asked to himself "eh vice chief? I never saw him before. This is my first time seeing him, and why he talks like a cowboy?!".

After vice chief is gone, Zen face change and asked the Chief "now chief, as usual, I will bring these two with me. Now brief me with the task".

Chief replied "oh right. I guess it is easier to brief it fully when we face to face like this, instead in phone call.

Alright, it's like this, our crime statistics department just send me a report about months ago. I can see that the case of people missing often happen in Silika Highland. Including some of the people that we have arrested in this capital city, don't have any crime record, until they went back from Silika Highland.

Because of that, I send a spy to be an undercover agent, and check what happened there. Fortunately, yesterday, he sent me information what is happening there right now. He said that the place is control by someone called Greed. Anyone who lost money and drown in debt because of his casinos there, will be his slave. They don't have so much choice, either work for him, clean the debt, or die. Now, Greed's people have already detected him, and they tried their best to catch him. He can't get out as all the way out have been guard by Greed's people.

As I listened, he said about Greed, all I can remember was you. I guess your theory was right, there is an organisation using the seven deadly sins members' names. Also, I think you are the only one who can take Greed down, without sending any special force. It is an entertainment place, full of civilians, I don't want to make them panic. So only you, and your selected subordinates can work in the shadow, and most importantly, save him".

Zen turned his back, looking to the exit door, and said to the Chief "alright then. Roger that.

Oh, one more thing, did you tell vice chief about this? Because as I remember, last night in the phone call you said no one knew about this".

Chief replied "I didn't tell him. Maybe he knew that himself. You know, he also a high-ranking member in this department".

Zen from a serious mood, change to his cheer mood again "let's go guys, we need to buy some new clothes for undercover tomorrow!".

It is different for Kai. Kai from being excited to go for his trip, suddenly have his hope shattered, making him blow up his tears "what is this? He did not say that we are going there for this type of dangerous mission. Also, we are going as the owner's enemies. I think I will never go there anymore".

Reina said Kai "what do you expect from a police officer like us having a road trip? Especially when Zen the one who invites".
