151 The Quiet Before the Storm

"So, would you like to hunt, or go to the diner?" Dakota asked, stroking my hair away from my face, holding me in his arms.

Our time alone had passed by so quickly. I wasn't kidding when I wished we could live there. "Either is fine with me. What do you want?" I replied, sitting up.

Dakota placed his hands on either side of my face and gave me one last sweet kiss before helping me down off the hood of his truck. "Let's hunt. I think it'll do you some good to get out and run a little bit." Then he gave me a sly smile. "Just promise me that you won't chase a werewolf off a cliff into the ravine tonight."

I scoffed. "Ha, ha! Very funny," I said, leaning in conspiratorially. "I'll try not to." Then I slid into Dakota's truck and we were on our way to the cabin a few minutes later.

"Micah's not coming tonight, is he?" In his condition, it was a stupid question, but I still had to ask.
