Everyone was seated at the huge, wooden kitchen table when I walked in. Michelle looked great. To my amazement, no bruises or cuts were prevalent on her face or arms. She had also taken a shower, and her hair was neat and combed, the leaves gone. Micah was sitting on her other side, and Noah was there, too, wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt, and Raina was sitting on the other side of the table.

Dakota motioned me to him, indicating an empty chair between him and Michelle. He smiled when I sat beside him and reached for my hand under the table.

"How do you feel?" I asked Michelle in a low voice.

She shrugged. "A little sore, but no worse for wear."

"And your leg?" I asked.

Michelle sighed. "I wouldn't have even known it had been broken." Then she looked around the table, meeting everyone's gaze. "Thank you, everyone, for saving me last night… or this morning. I'm so sorry—"
