"Michelle!"

She smiled sheepishly. "Just kidding."

"I'll tell you what." I turned onto N. Second Street, almost to school. "Try to see if you can make it and I'll go hunting with you after school today."

"Really?" she asked, her eyes hopeful.

I nodded. "Yes. And I'll catch the game for you if you don't want to."

Michelle shook her head, pulling down the visor to check her makeup one last time. "No, it was fun, actually." Then she flipped it back up. "Ready?"

But I caught her arm, capturing her attention. "Michelle, do you think you can make it?"

She nodded, letting out a deep breath. "Yes, I think so."

"Michelle, you have to know." I raised my eyebrows, looking into her eyes. "Can you maintain control until after school?"

She nodded. "I'll be fine... trust me." Then she got out of the car, closing the door behind her.
