38 Misunderstanding

It felt weird sneaking into my own house, but when I got there, I didn't want my father asking questions about Michelle. Just because Dakota and I had a tiff didn't mean that I could sell Michelle out like that. I jumped up into the tree and swung my legs up to give myself momentum, and then parkoured up the side of the house and swung into my room, glad that I had left the window unlocked for Dakota. But now, I turned around and locked it... just in case he came by.

I was too tired to argue tonight and I needed some time alone.

Suddenly, the lights flipped on. "So, how was it... at Michelle's this weekend?"

"Yeeoww!" I squealed, turning to see my father standing by the light switch.

The way he folded his arms across his chest, it was obvious that he knew. "It was funny, but when I called Michelle's house to talk to you, her mother said that she was over here."

"Oh, no!" I sighed. All I needed right now was for Michelle's secret to get out. "What did you tell her?"
