45 Homework, Dinner, and Truth

Dakota was waiting for me after school in the parking lot and quickly closed the gap between us. "Hi, Jessica."

"Hello," I said, giving him a quick peck on the lips. "You were waiting for me?"

He shrugged. "I thought we could do homework, if you don't mind. Hang out together."

I nodded. "Sounds good." Then I raised an eyebrow mischievously. "Your place or mine?"

He looked at me for a moment, obviously contemplating. "Ugg!" he exclaimed, looking up as he turned completely around, laughing. "You're killing me!"

I shrugged. "Just teasing."

He slipped his arm over my shoulder. "Teasing me is right." Then he motioned with his head toward my car. "Do you think your father would mind me being there with you alone when he gets home from work?"

I shrugged, unlocking my car. "Well, he won't be home tonight until about seven o'clock." Then I had a thought. "Want to help me make dinner?"
