"Jessica!" Michelle called after me, quickly catching up in the hallway. "What was that all about?"

I stopped abruptly and turned to face her, nearly causing her to run into me. "He's the Dark Rider."

"Are you sure?" Her eyes were wide as she looked over her shoulder back toward the classroom.

"Oh, I'm sure," I replied. "I told him to release Dakota and he asked me what I was going to give him in return."

Her eyes nearly bugged out of her head. "Seriously?"

I nodded. "Michelle, what are we going to do? How do you fight an immortal who wants to die?"

"We need to talk to my father," Michelle said, taking my arm and leading me down the hallway a bit. "Come home with me after school. But I'll text my father and will let him know what happened."

I nodded, letting out a deep breath. "But we can't leave the Dark Rider in a classroom filled with students!"

She looked down at her phone. "Dad's on his way up here."
