80 Dad and Mom, Dakota and Me

We ended up having a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday celebration together. It was a bit cool, but not overly cold for the humans that came, and we all had a wonderful time. At the end of the day, we packed everything up, knowing this would be the quiet before the storm that was coming the next night.

After we said our goodbyes, Dad and I drove back home together. 

"Dad, can I ask you something... about Dakota?"

He nodded, smiling. "Sure. What do you want to know?"

I sighed and looked out the window, and then back into his eyes. "When you knew him... years ago... did he have any girlfriends?" It was weird talking to my father about a guy he had known a hundred years or more ago that had become the love of my life. But saying that last little tidbit would have been too much to tell my father now. I didn't want to give him a heart attack. 

Dad smiled in disbelief. "Didn't you talk to Dakota about this?"
