149 Council Meeting

Michelle quickly showered and dressed while I changed. By the time we both went back downstairs, we looked much more presentable. 

"Dad!" I yelled, standing by the front door. "I'm taking Michelle home!"

"Wait," he called back, walking toward us down the hallway. Then he pulled Michelle in for a hug. "I'm so glad you're safe."

"Thank you," she replied when he released her.

Then he turned to me. "Jess, remember. We have a Council meeting tonight."

I had nearly forgotten about it. Between finding Michelle and Micah, we had enough on our hands. "I'm not sure—"

"Go," Michelle said, looking into my eyes. "You need to... for the pack. Micah and I are fine now, or at least we're safe. But you need to do what you have to for the benefit of the pack."

I nodded, knowing she was right. "I'll be back in a little bit, but I have to get Michelle home first."

He nodded once. "I'll wait for you then."

"I'll be right back."
