6 The Letter

-- Lucius Malfoy POV --

As Narcissa and I took a stroll through Diagon Alley, it was a surprise to find Heir Black leaving Gringotts.

The boy bothered me, not only was he the heir to House Black but he had an unnatural intelligence and his Occlumency was on a whole other level that far surpassed mine.

Don't get me wrong, the Black family are our allies thanks to them supporting the dark lord and the marriage between our houses, but there's something about that boy that rubs me the wrong way, it's as if he can see through me.

After having some tea and talking for a short while, the boy takes his leave and heads home while we do the same.

-- Arcturus POV --

The meeting with Lucius and Narcissa was a rather dull affair, they talked about the future and treated me like i was a child... well, i guess i do have a child's body but it's still annoying as fuck to be treated like a fragile glass ornament that will shatter at any moment.

The day proceeded quite well, i notified mother and father that i only inherited the Black family, making sure to keep the others a secret.

I soaked up my first day of magic training like a sponge, we started with Wingardium Leviosa, a spell that allows the caster to levitate the thing he's focusing on.

The days become repetitive yet fun, each day he learns something new and stores every bit of knowledge into his memory palace.

In almost a blink of an eye, two and a half years pass by and a now ten-year-old strapping young man with neat black hair and Avada Kedavra colored eyes lays on the ground repeatedly doing sit-ups.

His body was dripping with sweat, the sweat drops down his young but well-toned body, while he hasn't hit puberty yet, he stands a head taller than other ten-year-olds and could easily box people a few years older than him.

This training confirmed something he was thinking about, he always wondered if a healthy and fit body would be able to harness magic better than bodies covered in fat.

Over these years his magical reserves have increased exponentially, he leaned a variety of new spells but only mastered twenty of them.

After a quick bath and put on some casual but smart clothes, he makes his way to his father's bedroom.

Upon entering the room, he sees several nurses and doctors attending him, "How is he doing?"

The lead doctor looks his way, "I'm sorry, there's not much more we can do, he gets sicker every day, the best we can do is make him comfortable"

He nods before sitting by his father's side, "How long?"

The doctor gives the boy a look of pity, "Three days at most"

Once the doctors left the boy's sad face boy quickly replaced by an emotionless one.

Orion Black started getting sick around the boy's tenth birthday, Sirius was now twenty and Regulus was eighteen.

'I remember that it wasn't confirmed whether Regulus died before or after Orion but he's been missing for almost two weeks, so he's likely dead'

'If my memory is correct, Sirius will be sent to Azkaban in two years... that's gonna be a fun year at Hogwarts... not'

His thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the door opening, his mother enters the room and he takes his leave.

Walking through the quiet halls of his house, he ponders on his next actions, 'with father dead, Mother will be regent until I turn fifteen'

'During my time at Hogwarts, I'll need to show my superiority, another good thing is that in the years I'll be attending Hogwarts, there's no one special that can compete with me'

'I'm right in the middle between The Marauder's generation and Harry Potter's generation'

'Just nine long months until i get my letter'.

And just like that, nine months pass by, after reading his Hogwarts letter, he heads towards Diagon Alley with a few bodyguards his mother wanted him to have since he was all she had left.

Diagon Alley was busy as always, he wanted to make this trip quick, so he bought the books, clothes, and equipment he needed.

Walking into Ollivander's, he sees the old man muttering to himself while reading, "I'm here for a wand"

Ollivander looks at the boy surrounded by four henchmen, "Ah, Arcturus Black, i remember when your par-"

The boy interrupts him, "i don't care for memories, just help me find my wand"

Ollivander's normal cheery disposition turns into a scowl, "Very well, raise your dominant hand"

Doing as he's told, he raises his right hand.

After touching the boy's hand for a second, Ollivander quickly departs and finds a brown box with a picture of a raven on it.

"Vinewood with a phoenix feather core, 14 ½" and hard flexibility, perfect for someone with a bright mind"

He knew from the moment his skin touched the wand, this was his, his magic felt more controlled and power was bursting from him.

Something strange happened, he had a genuine smile on his face, "Thank you, Mr. Ollivander"
