1 Unfortunate

Since the beginning of his life, fate has not been least merciful to Yuan. Not only was he born with a face undesirable, but also a body that was beyond functional. However, the crueler fact was that this was only the beginning of his life; worse was to come.

In the eyes of others, Yuan's parents were kind human begins, but few knew that they were far from being in the same class as compassionate people. Having been born into an influential family meant that they had their dignity to protect, so they could not bear to show the world their ugly chid. As reputation came before kinship, they abandoned him on the desolate alley lane, located on a stinking slum.

Realising that they did not have the heart to kill him, they left him with a cardboard. The only thing that was written on it was: Give away child

Towards their final moment of seeing him off, the two walked a few yards back with hands gripping each other's. The two – bewitching woman and a handsome man could not bear to feel anymore emotions, so they tried not looking back.

The woman had a hint of redness on the corner of her eyes, whilst the man had a composed figure. One was emotional, while the other resolute.

"Forgive me. We have no choice but to do this. This is not about us, but our clan who we cannot disgrace," said the woman as she could not help but turn around. She gave the baby a one last look before facing the other side.

Looking at the lonesome moon, the woman started to sob and fled the scene. The man sighed ad chased after her, without a moment of hesitation.

Unaware that he was left alone, the fragile child started to cry due to hunger. However, there was no one else around him to fulfil his desire.

He was all alone.

After a few more hours of crying, the child seemed to have lost his voice. Although he wanted to shout our more, there was no energy to muster a sound.

As the cold, damp night started to flash, the child mustered all its strength to raise a shout once again.

"Goddamn. Please let me enjoy the little time I have left in this world," a voice came from the edge of the lane.

Noticing the sound, the child's eyes started to weakly shine, and a sharp cry filled the alley once again.

"Cough"

"Why is it always me?"

As the Yuan's curious eyes pinned, a robust man with torn clothes headed towards his direction.

The man's eyes flashed as he glanced at the cardboard. A deep look of sympathy crawled onto his faces as he saw Yuan's weak figure.

"Seeing as you are, I realised that you are in more of a pathetic situation than me. I guess I can let you at least take out your grief," said the man as he sat next to the cardboard.

As he was expecting a voice, he closed his eyes. However, no noise followed. Rather it was silent. The child looked at the man, who looked at him with gentle expression and smiled.

Although the smile was still ugly, the man smiled back.

"Now you stop crying," the man said as he slapped him things.

"Guess I will take you to my dump. Uh-oh, I have really turned soft. This could get me killed. Since you are being giving away, I will name you Yuan. It means give away from where I come from. Hope you like it."

Time passed, as Yuan began to realise life was a lesson, where he was the victim.

When he was five, the kids around him would say, "Go away you freak! No one wants to play with you." This had him crying for days, not realising that it was the start.

When he was ten, his body no longer worked, but no one took sympathy in the slums. He would hear harsher things as he grew. At some point he wanted to no longer grow up. He wanted to go faraway, where he was not bullied, even if it meant hell.

However, he could not leave him only family member alone in this world.

Years passed, and when Yuan turned twenty, he found the strength to keep him alive through a girl he met. Although she was from outside the slums, she would talk to him, who was less than a peasant.

He felt like he had fallen in love and wanted to consult with Zin - his foster father.

As he carried himself on his wheelchair, he strolled through the bustling street of Loaf time in Qin province. He started to notice that it was even louder than before.

Rather curious, he tried to sneak into the conversation between two ladies.

"Shush, that ugly bastard is coming this way," one said as she faced Yuan. She looked at with displeased expression as she once again said, "Go somewhere else, unlucky freak. You might get me killed as well"

Yuan looked at her with eyes of defeat as he tried to walk off.

Before he could back off, the other woman looked at him sympathetically and said," Your father has been killed. His body is outside your house"

Yuan's hand dropped as his eyes went wide. With an expression of disbelief, he mustered his energy to roll the wheel as hard as he could.

As the crowd was once again busily discussion events, Yuan's figure drifted away, while streak of tear droplets flew about. Their eyes landed on him with expression of disgust, but he did not glance at one of them.

His eyes flicked like candles as he was approached his house. As he gazed at the body outside his door, he got off his wheelchair to inch closer.

After few attempts of crawling he used his hand to turn the face, to see once familiar face. It was of his foster dad. The one he cared about more than anyone.

"Why? Why does this always happen to me? Why was I the one born like this? Only if I was born as a normal person. If only I had little more power, he would not have to die."

Tear drops fluttered like flakes as Eria held his father's head. He clinched it as hardly as he possible could as he said, "Who did th… is?"

However, blood sprayed from his mouth. Feeling a wave of coldness, Eria looked down to see a knife that struck through his heart. It was all too sudden to process.

Realising that he was at the doorstep of death, he turned his head to see a face once familiar- it was the girl he loved.

"Why?" With a broken voice, Yuan asked.

In response to his question, the girl gave a sad smile as she said, "It was because you were born. You are just unfortunate."

Yuan had a look of mockery as he said, "So it was the Nazel clan! I did not want to believe that my parents were this heartless."

A look of surprise flashed across the girl's face, but before she could question his awareness, Yuan's eyes turned null. He was dead.
