10 It’s not what it looks like

"Am I gonna have to chase you two down?"

He was so calm, despite having just destroyed a house and being caught with illegal drugs.

"No thanks!"

"Tune that's not gonna get him to go away!"

"Well it's better than nothing!"

We started to fall and cannon shot a few bursts to soften our landing, but it also used all her energy to fire them off.

"Well I can see your not going anywhere fast soon so we may as well talk this out."

He had somehow gotten in front of us and was acting suprisingly civilized.

"Look, I know you don't want any trouble and neither do I, we can just forget you saw anything and that'll be the end of it."

Cannon started whispering to me.

"You know that sounds like a pretty good deal."

"I know, we don't have to fight and that's fine in my book."

We spoke simultaneously to the blacksmith.

"We accept."

"Good! Now what do I owe ya?"

"Owe us? For what?"

"For not tattling you know? It's quite helpful of you so I see no reason not to help you in return."

"Well you are a blacksmith right?"

"What? Oh, you want weapons! Of course!"

"You'll make us some weapons?"

"Free of charge!"

"Nice!"

We had a short talk and became acquainted with each other while he made our weapons, he was actually really nice. Before he started making mine, I told him I would rather have some armor and he happily obliged.

"Sure Tune, What kind?"

"Perhaps some light armor, like a small breastplate or something."

"That's all?"

"Yep."

"Ok, I'll take a while so feel free to chat in the front."

We talked for a while and he came back with a brilliant red breastplate and two gauntlets. They seemed to have some crystals in the knuckles.

"Before you ask, these are typo crystals, they temporarily give the user an extra boost of their typo, or a new one entirely for a short time. They can be very useful!"

"I can't accept these! These must be worth over a million saol (pronounced sae-ol, it is the most common currency in Dem-one)!"

"Little secret? I've got a ton, those rocks you saw before? Those weren't drugs."

"How'd you get so many? And how much are they worth?"

"I used to be a thief, I've grown out of it, and they're worth more than your typo."

That was a lot to handle, a couple gauntlets worth more than my typo (typos have a value, in Dem-one, slavery is a rarity, but still exists, and so most slaves are sold at a price according to their value)? Seemed impossible. But when I tried them out in the dungeon, I learned just how much I didn't know.
