Chapter 3 A general's pov

---General Jeffrey of the 7th battalion of the United Kingdom pov---

"Shieldbearers, Hold your ground, Attackers advance as one! and Archers, KEEP FIRING!"

I bellowed my commands to my soldiers as we were forced to fight these damned ogres again.

My shieldbearers were forced to endure the uprooted trees and large boulders that could flatten a regular soldier!

Our arrows filled the skies before raining down on these monstrous bags of flesh.

As they felt the stinging rain of our arrows the monsters roared trying to smash their large clubs into any unlucky soldiers while the cowardly mercenaries used my men as bait to fill the bellies of those abominations, something that was hard to prevent since we are unable to retreat.

A village that was being evacuated by 200 of my men was nearby as were many more after that, this job can be a pain in the ass sometimes even more so went the rivaling kingdoms are after my head.

I made another command as my soldiers followed it on queue as they angered by their friends being eaten, the cowardly yet effective tactics of using the soldiers to control the Ogre's attention.

"Aura users, use your Artes NOW!"

Three or so people from the attackers struck an ogre with their aura skill pushed back the advancing monsters, some even gravely injuring the monsters by blinding to maiming them.

As I made another command to the Aura masters within the archer squads!

"Archers release a focused volley on the WEAKER MONSTERS!"

Then a shadow was formed over the targets causing some of the monsters to fall to their knees thanks to some of the aura-powered arrows.

I clicked my tongue at the tenacity of the ogres. Heh, they really live up to their name of being mobile fortresses.

These moving lumps of pure muscle were a common enemy for all kingdoms.

Luckily for us, their numbers were less than what our neighboring allied kingdom suffered against, which was one digit more than what we see here now.

As my men were about to finish off the first Ogre, a loud sound of something like a thunderclap resounded through the area before something hit the Ogre, causing a large chunk of it to explode!

Whatever it was that attacked the Ogre also harmed my men that were nearby... gravely!

But the sound of thunderclaps resounded again, this time killing the downed Ogre by blasting its head into pieces.

I ordered my men to fall back while commanding my shieldbearers to activate their defensive abilities, all while relaying my orders to the scouts to find me those bastards that harmed us!

As the same sound as before continued, some unknown attacker was decimating the ogres, then finally one of my scouts had arrived and reported.

"General, the source of the attack seems to be coming from Five strange-looking elephants roughly 4 miles southwest of our location!"

My eyes widened from the distance that was said as it surpassed my finest archer even when he uses aura by four times!

I looked at the person I was talking about, who sighed before nodding and then disappeared from his location.

My archer's name is Azamel, a half-breed whom I trust with my life.

However, more than half of the Ogres were dead within the amount of time that was spared to regroup together, gather the information, then send my finest archer to deal with the problem. The shots fired were faster than before which suddenly stopped when Azamel headed out.

The ogres began running away due to the fear of the unknown attacker leaving their injured to be slain by my soldiers or the opportunistic Mercenaries that were the first to flee upon hearing the thunderclap sounds from before.

Then began our nightmare as the same terrifying noise from before echoed again, causing another ogre to die!

The following attacks were more ferocious as it was double the speed as before laying waste to the area then when six more ogres fell under this strange attack, it was like some kind of angry god was trying to erase them from existence as my shieldbearers became the next target of these vicious attacks!

*PENG PENG PENG PENG*

Every attack blocked by them created a loud ringing sound that nearly ruptured our ears and shook the internal organs of those who withstood these attacks.

I was furious at these cowardly attacks against my army as I began assuming it might have been one of our enemies!

"SCOUTS, FIND ME THOSE BASTARDS!!! MEDICS, TREAT OUR INJURED!!!"

Within a few seconds, my scouts had found their location, including Azamel, who was gravely injured!

I didn't want to do this at first as I would be using more than half of my aura, but I had little choice in this matter!

"BRING ME MY SPEAR!"

My men knew what this meant as we accomplished our main goal, we are to retreat as soon as my spear flew!

I received my spear made from a 4th tiered monster's spine before infusing my weapon and my arm with as much aura as possible, causing my arm to unnaturally enlarge before aiming then throwing it with my all, heh, I guess I was pretty angry to go as far as injure my arm in the process, but it was worth it~

(A/N, there are currently nine available tiers of monsters and levels for aura users from 1st to the 9th, the higher the tier, the stronger they are!)

Less than a second later, the thunderclaps stopped before an explosion had happened caused by my aura-infused spear!

A pillar of white light had appeared, showing off my mastery of the aura Artes. I may be a 5th-tier Aura user, but I can at least use an aura art that can give a sixth-tier a run for their money!

There are nine tiers of mastery there is aside to be one more rank, but I am satisfied with what I got, starting from the first one BLUE>RED>GREEN>VIOLET>WHITE>ORANGE>GOLD>SILVER> then the highest of all BLACK which hasn't been seen since 300 years ago.

While I may not have killed our attackers, at least they should be pretty injured right now!
