8 Running away

Sofi's POV

"It's not exactly my case", he said shrugging his shoulders.

"What do you mean?", I asked with my curiosity piqued.

"I came out on my own", he said shrugging mildly. This even made me itch to know more about his reason to come out of the class and becoming an outstanding student. I meant literally.

And so, without containing my interest I asked him in an excited tone,"Then, what's the reason for you to come out of the class, on your own."

"It's because of you", he said as a casual comment.

"Oh, I see it's because of me", I said smiling goofishly. Wait something feels off in this conversation. He said-he said he came out, for me? FOR ME????

Without wasting a moment,"Why did you come out for me?", I asked him.

"That's because you are stupid", he said with that annoying yet another shrug of his shoulders. "What the hell", I retorted loudly.

Suddenly I heard a bang behind me. As the classroom door slid open, I felt a chill rundown my spine. Before I could turn, that betrayer Shine retreated back in silence, as though he know nothing of this situation.

I slowly turned back only to be greeted by the angry teacher. He just spat out with whatever word he could find and threw a chalkpiece at me. I stood there dumbfounded and tears threatening to fall.

I've never once in my life have met such a humiliation. The words I try to speak stuck in my throat, never once trying to sound out that I haven't done anything. It was his fault, his fault to anger me in the first place.

After shooting the bullet words, once again the door was slammed shut. As if understanding my situation, "Are you okay?", he asked in a low voice. Couldn't conceal my anger, I ran from there with tear dripping cheeks.

After running for sometime, I paused in my steps to turn back and look. Before I could react, that brat caught up with me.

"Why the hell did you run like that?", he said between his heavy pants. He was holding his knees with his hands and his waist was bent over to a ninety degree, trying to catch his breath. As he noticed, he have received silence for the reply, "Didn't you hea-", before he could finish his sentence, he saw my face and stood there dumbstruck.

"A-Are you-perhaps-crying?", he asked in a stuttering tone.

I don't know how these words made me react, because I have started to bawl my eyes out. I cried louder and louder, without saying anything. This made him panic out of his wit. He tried consoling me, "Hey, it's alright. Nothing have happened. And nothing's going to happen. Hush and calm down. I'm here."

He said those words, while patting my back and with utter seriousness. By now, my loud cry was reduced to small whimpers.

"Why? Why would this happen to me?", I asked him, while choking with my tears, still dripping over my cheeks. Snot covering my nose completely.

"Pardon?", he said in confusion.
