2 2.The Figure

Marley POV

Things happened so fast I almost didn't realize time flying. After the encounter with Mr Masked Guy I couldn't even go back to sleep. I had a million questions unanswered...first ...who was capable of hiring such a guy...and what was he looking for...he didn't even hurt me...why did he warn me....gosh and when would next time be??? I clearly was confused.

I jumped into jacuzzi and turned the taps full blast. A bubble bath'll do me some good at least. I just lay in the water therapy cause I badly needed to cool my nerves.

2:35am

I heard some noise from my bedroom....sounds like someone stumbled on something or had tripped but didn't fall.

I grabbed my towel and ran out of the bathroom...I had to get hold of Mr Masked guy this time.

He had even switched off my bedroom lights....I clicked in disappointment.

I saw it. A figure. This one was a bit shorter...I also noticed the different cologne...on seeing me he unleashed his dagger and came to my direction as fast as he could. Without even thinking I grabbed the lamp on my bedside table and smashed it on his head.

I felt my towel loosen and fall off my body but who cared as long as the lights were off. Seems the hit made impact cause he winced in pain and dropped his dagger,holding his temples with both hands. I picked it and ran to the switch to turn on the lights.

Too late.

I heard him fall after jumping out the window.

He was gone.

"What the hell...two of them in one single night? The hell do these people want." I muttered as I pressed 911 on my phone and waited for an answer.

I remembered Chazzlewitt.

"Phew," I sighed after seeing her sleeping undisturbed on her mat.

"How much time apart did the guys attack you ma'am?"

"About 2 hours apart," I said.

"Thank you for your cooperation ma'am. We'll definitely handle this," said the sheriff closing his notebook.

I didn't feel the need to sleep as it was only an hour to 7am. I went straight to the kitchen to make breakfast then head to the office.

I had lots of pending work.
