188 She's The Boss

Bryce had a hard time sleeping that night despite how tired he was. Jenna was out like a light less than ten minutes after they got in bed—he could tell because she had gone limp in his arms—but he had too much on his mind. 

Was this really happening? Was this some sort of wonderful dream he was going to wake up from and find himself alone in some crappy long-term stay hotel room? 

He had been so miserable without her. So lifeless. And while everything he experienced here in Florida wasn't all sunshine and daisies because of her initial resistance to the idea of trying again at least he felt alive whenever she was around, whether she was paying attention to him or not. 

She had always had that effect on him. It was why he kept going back to Juice Jubilee for two months despite not exchanging more than two sentences a day with her and why he refused to give up when she was being cold at first after they met up again.
