Well, she had really made a mess of things now, Nim thought as she dragged herself from the bed the next morning. Agremonth Castle was being pelted by summer rain that rattled against the window in the light of early dawn. Her joints ached terribly, but she stretched until each of them cracked with a tiny pop.

Stooping to pick up her trusty cane, Nim thought long and hard about what her next steps should be. The four of them talked long into the night. She assumed they were still sleeping at this early hour. She could not settle her mind for a long time after retiring to bed and had woken with the dawn, as usual, thoughts still churning about the conversation.
