"We are going out, get your cloak," Lucian said more abruptly than he intended. Aniyoh's slightly stunned face peered back at him before he closed the door behind him.

Marcaius had been probing with his questions, leaving Lucian drained from the conversation. Ender dodged each of Marcaius' verbal assaults leaving him to fend off the majority of his father's inquiry. Lucian thought himself a skilled diplomat, but in the presence of Marcaius, he felt a true test of his abilities.

And there was still more work to be done this night, and he couldn't stay in this house any longer.

Lucian had gritted his teeth in his room, knowing that Caroline now shared Enders. Though they managed to mask any sound coming from his chamber, Lucian could only imagine what they were doing in there. He preferred not to, though.
