Caroline nodded slowly, holding out her cup to the servant for refilling. In the week since arriving at Marcaius' home, she and Ender had made numerous social calls. Each one was duller than the last, a constant droning of gossip and political musings.

Ender's father insisted they begin introducing themselves to the nobility before the ball tomorrow, where she would finally meet King Undair. Caroline wasn't sure if she envied Aniyoh or not. Her friend was allowed to remain home since Lucian already knew most of Ravin-Sha's polite society. Still, Caroline didn't envy being stuck in the house with Marcaius and James.
