20 Chapter Twenty ~ Falling In Love

The sun shines into Jae's room hitting on Mona's face, she turns around to get away from the sunlight. She felt something next to her, she slowly opens her eyes. Ivan laying right next to her. At that moment, she realizes that Ivan is no longer the guy she thinks that reminded her of Ken. But for once, she finally thought of him as Ivan. She moves herself and raises her finger to his eyelashes. She hesitates but couldn't resist to pet his lashes softly. "Wow, these lashes are so pretty. How come I never notice them?" Mona thinks to herself. Suddenly she felt her heart beating fast. She puts her hand over her chest to feel her heartbeat. "Why is my heart beating so fast?" She pauses and watches Ivan in his sleep. "I wish I can stay like this forever." Mona thinks to herself.

Moments later, Mona feels a tap on her shoulder, she turns around and sees Jae staring at her. She jumps with a sudden shock. Then she turns back to see if she had woke Ivan up. Ivan was still laying there with his eyes closed. Mona quickly focuses back to Jae. "Hey, you sleep well last night? Want me to go make you some breakfast?" Mona whispers to Jae. Jae nods his head. Mona softly gets herself off the bed to go make breakfast.

Mona heard footsteps coming down the stairs, "It's almost done!" Mona shouts to Jae. "What's for breakfast?" Ivan says with a soft tone. Mona in shock quickly turns around not knowing that Ivan was just inches away from her. Their lips almost touching, they both paused and stirred into each other's eyes. "Hey! The eggs are overcooked!" Jae shouts. Mona quickly turns around to focus back on her cooking. Ivan reaches over from behind and grabbed the salt. "You forgot to put salt."

Mona puts her hand on her chest, "it's beating so fast again. What is wrong with me?" She thinks to herself. After breakfast, Mona and Jae left for school and Ivan went his way for work.

" You know, I was worried that you didn't keep your promise and just let my mom take me. But you stayed quiet and you even stayed with me and my dad. I think I am starting to like you a little more." Jae turns to his right where Mona was walking beside him. No one was there, so he turned to his left. "Where did she go?" Jae thinks. He turns around and see Mona trailing behind him. "Sigh"

Jae runs over to Mona, "what are you doing?" Mona looks over to Jae. "Huh?"

"Did you even hear what I was saying? I was actually being nice for a moment." Jae pushes Mona lightly to get her attention from dozing off.

"I'm sorry, what did you say? I had something in my mind and I was just a little distracted." Jae shakes his head. "Never mind. Forget it!" Jae turns around and walks in front of Mona.

"Hold on! You're walking too fast. Wait for me." Mona runs after Jae. Mona playfully pushes Jae. "C'mon, are you mad? Say it to me again. Whatever that you were saying earlier."

Jae shakes his head and continues to walk in front of Mona.

After school, Mona text Ivan and asked what he wanted to eat for dinner. She waited and waited and there was no response.

"I wonder what he's doing. Is he in a meeting? Why isn't he replying to my text?" Mona takes her phone out to see if there were any missed calls or missed text messages from Ivan.

~ding~

The phone rings and some words popped up on the screen.

"Hey, sorry I was in a meeting. Cook whatever you want. My appetite is not that great today."

"Hm.. what should I make? What can I make to help his appetite?"

Slowly without realizing, Mona have started to think about Ivan a lot more. She started to worry about his appetite, his feelings, or even how his day went.

Later that evening, Mona have made dinner and was waiting for Ivan to come home. An hour past by and still no signs of Ivan. The food is getting cold and Jae is getting tired. Mona picks up the phone to call Ivan. The phone rang for 40 seconds and went straight to his voicemail.

"Hi, this is Ivan,I am not able to come to the phone right now. Please leave a message after the tone." {Beep....}

Mona hangs up the phone.

Another hour have gone by, still no sign of Ivan.

Suddenly the phone rings.

Mona picks up the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey, sorry I been really busy and I had meetings after meetings all day today. Did you eat?" Mona nods her head.

"Yea.. we ate. Jae is already in bed. I..."

Suddenly Mona gets interrupted with some loud honking noise and squeaking tires.

Mona shouts through the phone. "Ivan!! Hello?! Ivan!" Crashing noise ringing through the phone. Mona pauses and had remembrance of Ken's tragedy. Tears began to fall from her eyes. She drops the phone and runs upstairs to wake up Jae.

Mona anxiously shakes and Pat's Jae to wake him up.

"What's going on??" Jae asks still half asleep.

" Hurry, get dressed! We need to go to the hospital! Your dad had just gotten into an accident! I don't even know where he's at!" Mona breaks down in tears.

Few minutes later Mona's phone rings. It's Ivan's assistant.

"Hello?? How is Ivan? Where is he?"

The assistant replies.

"He is at Gangnam Yonsei Sarang Hospital. But..."

The assistant gets cut off by the dead tone. Mona had hung up before he could say anything else. Mona grabbed onto Jae's hand and rushed out the door.

The taxi arrives in front of the hospital, Mona stood in front and hesitated. Memories came floating back in her head. When she remembers ken dying from his car accident. She shakes her memories and headed in to the hospital. She ran straight to the receptionist.

"Excuse me, can you please tell me what room Ivan Kim is in?" The nurse looks at her.

"Who?"

Mona slams her hand on the counter with frustration.

"IVAN KIM!" Mona shouts.

"You can't tell me you don't know him, he is all over the news!"

Mona runs room to room searching for Ivan. Tears streaming down her face.

"Where is he?!" She shouts in frustration. Her shout was so loud that Ivan was able to hear it from his room. He slowly gets up to head over to the doorway. He pierced through the glass and saw Mona running around with tears streaming down her face. He takes a step out his room and shouts, "Mona!"

Mona turns around and see Ivan standing in front of her leaning against the wall in pain with a crutch helping him up. She runs toward him and wraps her arms around him.

She starts mumbling words that no one can understand.

"Why do you make me worry so much? How did this happen? I can't lose you! I don't know what I will do if anything would have happened to you!"

Ivan shocked with Mona's reaction, he had no words to say. He forces himself to use his last energy to hold onto Mona and padded her on her head to let her cry her tears out.

At this moment, Mona finally realize how important Ivan is to her and how much she have fallen in love with him.

From a distance down the hospital hall stands Hee Joon, starring with frustration. He have seen what happened. He crunches his fist with anger. The anger in his eyes and the passion of revenge seeps deep in his mind. He turns away and walks out the hospital.
