Chapter 02

"I…can't remember anything…who am I? What am I doing here? What happened to me?" The boy mumbled while holding his head tightly hoping that he could remember something but it was all of no use.

"Hey…I know it's quite shocking but why don't you sit down and have something first–Ahh!"

"You! Who are you? Are you the one behind this? Tell me!" That boy asked as he held Ling's collar.

.

"How can he be this strong even when he is injured?" Ling thought as he tried to remove his hands but couldn't,

"I don't know you and looking at my face and the situation now do you think I am capable enough to harm you?"

That boy's eyes that were sharp a little ago became normal as he looked at Ling who was still struggling under his grip.

"It can't be him….he is too weak" He thought and let him go.

"Then…why am I here... with you?" He asked, still showing a bit of suspiciousness.

.

"Me and my Ge saw you lying in the bushes and brought you here, treated you… but we have no idea who you are, plus you didn't have any identity proof with you…" Ling said as he looked at the boy's face which was as cold as ice but his eyes showed anxiousness and fear. And it was understandable, if he was in his place he might even do something crazier unlike him listening to everything so quietly.

.

Silence fell over the place, until the unknown boy suddenly staggered, and fell on the couch behind him.

"What's wrong?" Ling asked as he kneeled before him.

"My head…hurts…my body feels lifeless…ugh" He said as he shutted his eyes and held onto his head tightly.

"Just a second!" Ling said before running towards the kitchen and coming back with a tray.

.

"You haven't eaten anything since yesterday plus you lost lots of blood, no matter how strong your grip is, you still need to recover, here have this porridge and then take this medicine it will lessen your pain and help you sleep well." Ling said as he put the tray in front of him, the boy looked at the food and then at Ling.

"What's wrong? You don't like porridge? Or the medicine?"

.

"You...really don't know me?"

"No"

"Then...Is this normal? Helping unknown people…treating and feeding them?" That boy asked, his eyes still glued in the tray.

.

"It's different for different people, but for me it's normal…*picks up a spoonful of porridge and puts it inside the boy's mouth* even this is normal…sorry but your hands are wounded too.." Ling said as he gave out a sly smile.

"It's nice…."

"The porridge? Thanks, it's my Dad's special recipe! Eat well and you will get well soon!" Ling said, and a bell rang on the door.

"It must be Ge. Just a second…coming!"

"...Why does everything feel so unfamiliar…not at all normal…" The boy said as he felt heaviness not just in his body but also in his heart.

.

"Hello, how are you feeling now?" A man wearing a Polo shirt and specs asked him with a gentle smile.

"I don't know, but are you the other person who saved me?" The boy replied honestly.

"Yes, it's him. Bin Ge, the best doctor in this town!" Ling said as cheerfully as he gave Bin a cup of tea.

"Shut up lingling, and basically I just followed the orders given by him."

"Ge~"

"Anyway, so you don't remember anything…"

The boy nodded his head,

"As expected, you got a strong hit right in your head…but it wasn't that critical so this memory loss must be temporary and if everything goes well you will start remembering things very soon." Bin said as he checked that boy's pulse and then eyes.

"Doctor…how much is that very soon?"

"...Sometimes it is like 2 or 3 days, sometimes half month or 3 months or maybe a year.."

.

The boy didn't say anything but his eyes were calmer now. "Rest assured, memory or not, as long as this boy is here with you, you will have a lots of memories. So don't stress yourself much, take medicine on time, eat your food and try to be active."

"Yes, I promise, though I can't bring back your old memories, I will help you make new memories. So cheer up!" Ling said as he smiled and sat beside him.

That boy kept looking at both of them,

"Doctor, I feel uneasy…can I go and rest" He said as he averted his gaze.

.

"Sure, Come let me help you" Ling said as he held his hand but that boy refused and just walked towards the room he came from.

"...Did I offend him somehow?" Ling said as he scratched the back of his head.

"He is just tired and confused about everything, give him time and things will get better."

"Okay but Ge why are you dressed up so early in the morning? Are you going somewhere?"

"..Yes..well I was transferred to Shanghai hospital and today was basically my last day."

"That means you planned on saying hi yesterday and byee Today…." Ling said with a slight disappointment in his voice.

.

"Yes…I know it is all too soon, you just came after so long and uncle isn't here too…plus this accident you must very overwhelmed, if you want I will stay here for a few more days—-"

"Ge, calm down, and congrats from this small town to Shanghai, *taps his shoulders* Now that's what we call progress. I am happy for you, really really happy but you didn't buy me any celebration food so I am feeling a bit down."

"LingLing you…."

"Ge,It's true that I am a bit sad and overwhelmed but I can handle it! You don't worry, go follow your dream, and make us proud."

"Our Ling has grown up, really…" Bin said as he rubbed his head and smiled.

.

"Have you just realized it?"

"Yes"

"You know what, forget whatever I said." Ling said as he pouted.

"I am kidding, Lingling…thank you for treating me as your older brother, for encouraging me and for being a sunshine." Bin said as he cupped Ling's face.

"I will miss you too Ge." Ling said as he hugged him and gave out a small smile.

Both of them stayed like that for some time, chatting until it was time for Bin to go. Ling went outside to drop him off.

.

"They weren't a real family…yet they seemed so close…" The boy who was hearing their conversation from the beginning thought while looking outside the window at the open sky.

"...But now what should I do?..."

.

"Also, about that boy, I have arranged everything in the hospital. Just introduce him as your friend who had a bike accident, no one will ask you more. You should take him for a checkup once a  week until his head is fully healed and…beware of him, we don't know anything about him…and…"

"I know…saving a stranger and living with him plus memory loss is a whole red flag but…I don't think he is dangerous…"

"You said that and petted a dog when you were 10 and it bit you so badly that you had to stay bedridden due to fever for 2 weeks."

"Ge that was an animal, he is a person….a sick person…who doesn't even know himself…" Ling said his face is getting smaller with every sentence.

.

"Now now, first focus on his healing and then his memories. Don't take too much stress, just call me if any problem arises okay."

"Okay, you too work hard there and don't forget your food. Take care Ge." Ling said as he smiled.

"Take care too Lingling and tell uncle I want his special sour and sweet pork delivered to my place." He said as he got inside his car.

"Okay order taken!" Ling said as he did an okay sign with his hand.

.

"And Ge don't tell Pa about my arrival...I want to surprise him~"

"Okay I won't~ but if he gets angry then don't balme me"

"No one will blame you, now go~"

"I am" He said as he chuckled,

With that they bid Farewell to each other, with a hope to meet soon.

.

After that Ling went inside the house, it was almost lunch time. He prepared the food and kept on checking the boy who was sleeping peacefully in the middle of the process.

"Lunch is ready~ hope he likes it too." Ling said as he took the tray full of food to the room that unofficially belonged to that boy.

"I don't want to eat… take it back." He said without even glancing at Ling or the tray.

"But you need to eat to get better."

"What does it have to do with you?" That boy said as he looked at Ling's eyes coldly.

And an uncomfortable air surrounded them or more like strained them.

How is it?

Boring I guess~
