Promise

Taking the black bag over my head, I blinked repeatedly adjusting to the bright lights. Looking around I could see that I am in a small white room with a steel table in front of me.

"You know, you guys didn't have to blind me." I said annoyed by the fact.

"Really?" A deep sarcastic voice came from behind me. "You have x-ray vision Superman?"

Nick Fury, bald, wearing all black, and eye-patched, Director of SHIELD, took a seat in front of me. Looking around I could see we are the only ones in the room, but seeing a large mirror on the wall suggests otherwise.

"No, but I do have thermal vision." I said truthfully at his raised eyebrow. "Just found out after you guys bagged me, so thanks."

He turned his head questionable towards the one way mirror. Then back to me looking at me incredibly at my truthful answer.

"Hi I'm Robert Drake." I introduced myself reaching out with my uncuffed hands.

"Nick Fury, Director of Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division." He cautiously shook my hand.

"Wow, what a mouthful." I replied mocking the name.

"You seem awfully calm about this whole situation, Robert." Fury pointed out.

"Well at this point, I doubt nothing will surprise me anymore." I said somberly, remembering the shocking events of my life.

"Well Iceman, since you are being so cooperative." Fury began his interrogation, "Do you mind telling me, why the hell you are murdering civilians!"

I acted astonished, "What?!? Who?! Meee?! Impossible?!"

Fury brought out photos of the impalement of 3 thugs and Juggernaut's frozen head. "Then what do you call this." He accused.

"Idiots." I answered with no emotion.

Fury blinked, surprised at my uncaring answer. "Idiots?!? These are people, human people. Are you telling me humans are idiots? You are setting a bad example for your fellow mutants, Drake."

"There are worse mutant examples out there." I shot back.

"Oh really?" Fury leaned in looking intrigued, "Like who?"

I mimicked his movements and replied, "I don't know Fury tell me, aren't you an intelligence organization."

He stared at me with anger for my hostile answers, "Did you know humankind is close to making a cure for mutants?" He said suddenly, "Mutants aren't know to the general public, but there are a select few that work for us."

"And?" Not scared by his underlying threat.

"And it means we have a way to take you down." He threatened me.

"But not right now...." I pointed out.

I sat there unfazed by his aggressive questions and threats. We sat in silence staring at each other, Fury with an angry expression against my blank one.

Nick Fury sighed and rubbed his temples, "Look. What happened to the kid who saved saved innocent people and CAPTURED criminals."

"Vacation." I replied sarcastically. "Now what do you need Fury." Bored with the interrogation and wanting to figure out Organic Ice.

"Fine then." Nick Fury relented and spoke out his true objective. "We would like to extend an invitation for you to join SHIELD."

"No." I said instantly.

Nick Fury was not surprised, "Why not?"

"You don't have anything I want." Answering truthfully, plus knowing HYDRA is SHIELD makes it a double no.

"We can offer you protection if things go south with mutants." He offered, "As well as protection for your parents."

My eyes instantly locked with his one eye, gaining a hard look. "My parents are dead to me, and me to them. You better update your files Fury."

His eyes narrowed at my wording and thought about it before widening at my meaning. Looking at me worryingly, he still tried to offer protection for them.

My face turned serious as I spoke, "Look, Director Fury, my parents are nobodies. They don't know anything or anyone. You better erase their names out of my files."

"I promise to you I will." He paused, "If you join SHIELD, at least be a consultant. We have resources that could prove useful to you."

"No." I said aggressively as my eyes turned blood red, "And stop trying to leverage my parents into your deal. Forget about them. Erase them from your memory. And If I find that they are kidnapped or injured in anyway." My eyes glowed a terrifying red, my voice turned colder and the temperature in the room dropped. "I will come to you first."

Fury noticed the change in my attitude and surrounding, quietly pressing a panic button he had hidden and moving his other arm slowly to his side. "Is that a threat?"

"No it's a promise." I replied with vigor. My eyes turned back into an icy blue as I stood up from my chair. "I'm leaving. Now tell everyone outside to stand down, or else everyone in this building will die."

Nick Fury assessed my mental state and raised his hand, "Stand down, someone escort Mr.Drake off the premises."

I nodded my thanks and opened the exit to find a squad of 20 men with flamethrowers backing up and letting me pass. I leisurely left the building and head towards a library.

Still sitting in the white room was Nick Fury going over the conversation he just had with a very dangerous individual.

Coming inside to stand next to the Director, was Agent Coulson. "Sir, should we monitor him at all times?"

"Yes." Fury replied immediately, "Place him as a high priority next to Banner."

"Yes sir." Agent Coulson nodded.

"And Coulson." Fury paused considering his choices, "Erase his parents form the system. And put a protection detail on them. No one touches them. Understand?"

Agent Coulson nodded understanding the situation.

"Good we don't need another Magneto on our hands." Fury sighed tiredly and rubbed his temples.

New York Public Library....

Arriving at the nearest public library, I quickly asked one of the employees where their mythology section was. Intending to find out if I really am a Frost Giant.

I found a Norse Mythology book with the help of an employee and quickly tried to find a chapter on Jotunheim. Finding a chapter on frost giants I flipped through and found a familiar symbol. I took off my mother's necklace and placed it side by side, finding them the same rune for Jotunheim.

I sat back, mulling over my findings. "Damn, I'm a Frost Giant."
