12 <Myth> How the God of Slumber Got His Name

Virpni, God of Slumber AND Inpriv, God of Dreams and Restfulness

Minas had made the God of Slumber by mistake, and, as such, the God of Slumber was a forgotten and disliked god; the Gods had no need for him, and the humans were angry at their lost time.

Due to this, the God of Slumber spent many millennia with the despise of the humans that the existence of the gods' were hinged upon. He grew sullen and unapproachable, but there were none that would approach him in the first place. Furthermore, the God of Slumber was the only God that was forced to sleep as well. No God wanted to be near him on the near impossible chance of falling asleep.

One day, however, a young god neared the God of Slumber's abode. The God of Slumber at this time was sleeping, and so the young god was able to easily slip past his defenses. The young god was filled with wonder at the many different pillows that graced the God of Slumber's walls- though he didn't know that they were called pillows. He just knew that they were soft, comfortable, and warm.

The young god walked through the God of Slumber's house with sure steps until he stood before the sleeping god. He was surprised to see the peaceful face of the God of Slumber, and he was stunned by the God of Slumber's beauty. Reaching out a hand, the young god was about to trace the God of Slumber's face, but the God of Slumber awoke, stopping the young man.

"What are you doing," the God of Slumber's voice thundered throughout his house.

Surprised- but not afraid- the young man stood before the God of Slumber with a charming smile on his face. "I'm visiting," he cheekily said.

Taken aback, the God of Slumber had no clue on what to reply. Accidentally, he released the young god's hand.

"Thank you," the young god said, his smile growing wider. "What's your name," he continued, "I've never seen you before in any of the Gods' meetings."

Hearing this, the God of Slumber grew sullen. "Get out!" He yelled, his mood worsening further after being awakened out of his sleep.

"No," the young god replied, "you haven't answered my question yet."

"Out!" The God of Slumber magically swept the young god out of his house and closed the doors. The young god was unable to get in.

However, the young god was stubborn. He visited the God of Slumber every day at the same time until the God of Slumber grew used to his presence outside of his door. So, when one day the young god did not show up to knock at his door, the God of Slumber grew worried. He did not go to sleep at his regular time and, instead, opened the door to his house voluntarily for the first time.

"Aha!" the young god said, delight in his features. "You've finally opened the door!" The young god shoved his way inside of the God of Slumber's house. Standing before the God of Slumber, the young god's features grew determined. "I've asked around, and I've learned that you are the God of Slumber. I've also learned that you have no name," the young god said.

The God of Slumber grew embarrassed, and he was about to yell once again. However, the next words of the young god stopped him in his tracks.

"I can give you my name," the young god smiled. "My name is Virpni. I will give you my name, the God of Slumber, so that you will become Virpni, the God of Slumber."

Virpni stared at the young god in surprise. He had no idea what he could say. But the young god was not done yet.

"I also would like to formally decide on my domain. I will be the God of Dreams and Restfulness, companion to the God of Slumber. And I would like to ask for Virpni, the God of Slumber, to grant me a name."

Virpni looked on in amazement. He cleared his throat and then spoke in a soft voice. "Inpriv. That will be your name."

Virpni and Inpriv looked at each other and grinned. The God of Slumber will no longer be despised and forgotten, as his companion had found him and given him a name.

"Thank you, Inpriv."

Inpriv looked satisfied, "It was my destiny, Virpni."

They shared a smile.
