6 Things Were Already Developing Out Of His Control

At eight in the morning, the insomniac Qin Guanglin lay on the bed with his dark eye circles. He tapped on He Fang's profile picture and then closed it. He opened her profile and closed it again.

He repeatedly typed some words and then deleted them.

What exactly was going on now? Were they dating already? Or did it not count because he did not respond yesterday?

Qin Guanglin brooded over it. If he had walked into the pit step by step and lost his head the night before, then he had regained his senses entirely now.

What happened last night was not a competition. Not for her, and especially not for him either. Whatever reason He Fang did it, he knew that it had slightly drawn out the hidden fondness he had concealed deep in his heart.

He became fond of someone in two months. It was so fast that he found it inconceivable.

But if he did not like her, why would he chat incessantly with her for an entire day?

Who would stay up all night just to chat?

Who would be so free as to accompany someone else everywhere?

But what was he supposed to do next? His rich relationship history seemed to be of no help at all. He could only unleash his ultimate skill.

'If the enemy stays still, then I stay still.'

"Ding dong."

The notification rang. Qin Guanglin's hand trembled, causing his cell phone to drop and hit his face.

He drew in a breath of cold air. He then picked his phone up and tapped on the screen a few times. The messages immediately appeared.

Gone Astray, Awaiting Return: [ Good morning. ]

He instantly felt a little lost, for her words were the same as before. It was as if nothing happened at all. It made him unable to determine where He Fang was at.

Dense Forest: [ Good morning. ]

Gone Astray, Awaiting Return: [ Are you working today? ]

Dense Forest: [ No… Do you have lessons today? ]

Gone Astray, Awaiting Return: [ No lessons. Do you want to go out for some fun? ]

It lifted Qin Guanglin's spirit. There was hope! Before this, they would meet once every few days. Now, they were going to meet on two consecutive days.

Dense Forest: [ Sure. Where shall we go? Xicheng District? ]

Gone Astray, Awaiting Return: [ I have to go to Nanfei Road to settle something first. ]

Dense Forest: [ Sure. ]

Nanfei Road… Wasn't that the neighboring street? He got up and glanced out the window. From where he was, he could see the intersection.

After thinking about it, Qin Guanglin crawled up from his bed and washed up. He then took a short-sleeved shirt from his wardrobe and put it on, planning to go out.

"Time to eat. There's porridge in the pot." Mother Qin frowned as she looked at his dark eye circles. What crooked dealings did this brat engage in the night before?

"I'm not eating." Qin Guanglin slipped his shoes on and left in haste.

He met with another dilemma when he stood at the intersection of Nanfei Road. The street was wide, so it was difficult for him to bump into someone specifically. So, should he wait at this intersection for a bit and see if he could bump into her? And then pretend to be surprised at the coincidence? Or should he stroll around and try to find her?

Qin Guanglin took out his phone and hesitated briefly. He then typed into the chat. [ What errand are you running? ]

Send.

"Ding ling di dong ding."

A ringtone drilled into Qin Guanglin's ears. Before he could turn his head, he heard He Fang's voice resound from behind him. "What are you looking around for?"

He hastily turned around in shock. He Fang stood vividly in front of him in a light yellow dress, and she looked at him with a hint of curiosity. She even had a red-orange haversack slung over her shoulders.

A girl of her age did not need to wear any branded clothes or especially style her outfit. As long as she dressed presentably, she would naturally give off the innocent and beautiful aura of a young girl.

Although He Fang tried her best to show a curious expression, Qin Guanglin could still tell from her face she was suppressing the urge to laugh.

"I, uh… Aren't you here to run some errands? I came to see if I could help out."

He could no longer pretend that it was a coincidence. He had no choice but to admit that he intentionally came here.

"Oh. You're so quick. Do you live here?" He Fang asked as she walked past him and straight ahead.

"Yes." Qin Guanglin trailed behind her. He had thought all night long about how to face her. But now, he did not know where to begin. "Where are you going?"

"The post office." She patted the small backpack on her shoulders. "I'm mailing a document."

"You came this far to mail something?" Qin Guanglin scratched his head. "Isn't there a post office in Xicheng District, too?"

"Can't I come here?" He Fang glanced at him and asked. "You didn't sleep well last night?"

Qin Guanglin held his breath briefly. "There were too many mosquitoes…"

He looked carefully at He Fang's side profile and noticed that her complexion was great and that she looked full of energy. Immediately, he felt a little gloomy. "It seems like you slept very well yesterday."

"I slept until the sun came up. I had such a fitful sleep." By then, He Fang had arrived at the post office. She took out a thick stack of paper from her backpack.

"What document is this?" Qin Guanglin was a little curious.

"A novel." He Fang filled in the form and continued, "I wrote it out of boredom. I'm sending it to a publisher to see how things go."

Qin Guanglin thought about it. She seemed to have told him before that she was majoring in literature. Were students these days so impressive?

She was in her fourth year of university and had not graduated, but she could already write such a thick novel…

He lost focus as he looked at He Fang's side profile.

"Let's go." He regained his senses only when He Fang reached out and waved her hand in front of him.

"Oh, let's go."

"You're even staring at me blankly now?" He Fang asked.

Qin Guanglin turned his head away, albeit unnaturally, to avoid her gaze. "No. I'm thinking about something."

He Fang's lips curved. She then changed the subject. "I have nothing on now. Where shall we go?"

"Do you want to go anywhere specific?"

She looked down as if she was thinking about it. "Hm… Your house is nearby."

Qin Guanglin was a little confused. "Yes. It's not that far away."

"I want to see the place where you paint." He Fang looked up at him.

"Well…" Qin Guanglin opened his mouth. His mother was still at home, so it seemed entirely inappropriate to bring a girl back.

"Is it inconvenient for you?" He Fang stared into his eyes before gently leaning towards him. "It's just the place where you work…"

"Alright." He took a step backward. "It's just in front. Not too far away."

"Let's go, then." He Fang turned around and walked forward.

After taking a turn, she halted at the entrance of Qin Guanglin's house. She turned her head to look at him.

Qin Guanglin braced himself and took out his keys to open the door. "Come on in."

"You're back so soon? Where did you…" Mother Qin was currently sitting in the living room and reading the newspaper. She froze when she turned her head.

"Hello Auntie, I'm Qin Guanglin's…" He Fang greeted her very politely.

"Friend. This is my friend. Her name is He Fang." Qin Guanglin did not know what he was afraid of either when he hastily interrupted her.

He Fang glanced at him with a smile.

"You're Lin's friend? Quick, have a seat." Mother Qin looked at Qin Guanglin, unusually benevolent. After that, she gestured for He Fang to sit down.

This brat had some skills. He brought someone home so quickly.

"My studio is here." Qin Guanglin ignored Mother Qin's greeting and led He Fang into his studio.

"Sure, Auntie." He Fang was already sitting obediently on the couch. She seemed to have no intention of following Qin Guanglin to his studio.

"How can you invite a girl in but not give her any water?" Mother Qin glared at Qin Guanglin. "Go and get a drinking glass!"

"There's no need to trouble him, Auntie. I'm not thirsty." He Fang gestured gently.

Qin Guanglin quietly went to look for a glass.

After glaring at Qin Guanglin, Mother Qin smiled very kindly the moment she turned her head. "Don't stand on ceremony. This brat rarely brings his friends home. It's the very first time he has brought a girl home, too."

He Fang looked down shyly. "He asked me a long time ago to come and look at his studio. I had no time, so we dragged it until now."

Qin Guanglin, who had been pouring water, widened his eyes and turned his head. 'When did I ever say that? Aren't you the one who wanted to come?!'

"If so, you must have known each other for a very long time." Mother Qin continued to smile gently. She had caught on sharply to the vital phrase 'a long time ago.'

"Yes. Guanglin is my senior." He Fang continued to look down bashfully.

Qin Guanglin nearly dropped the glass. They were both from Luo City University, so he would admit that he was her senior. But the two of them only had known each other for barely two months. How was that long?!

And why did she refer to him as 'Guanglin'?! Mom, don't misunderstand!

But Mother Qin's smile became more and more gentle. "Young girl, are you from Luo City University, too?"

"Yes. I'm graduating this year. Auntie, you can call me He Fang." He Fang got even shyer.

"Have some water," Qin Guanglin said slowly. He placed two glasses in front of both of them.

Mother Qin looked at him with dissatisfaction before turning her head and continuing to say kindly, "Your name is He Fang, right? Don't be a stranger. Have some water."

"Thank you, Auntie." He Fang obediently lifted a glass and sipped lightly.

'I'm the one you ought to thank! I poured the water! I brought it here!'

Qin Guanglin sat on the couch despondently. He looked at He Fang, and then at Mother Qin and felt that something was amiss. She did not seem like a regular guest.
