3 Investigators in Plain Clothes Are About to Track and Monitor

Luo City University was enormous. When He Fang walked out after placing the artwork, Qin Guanglin realized it was already five in the afternoon.

Returning to the original road and reaching the traffic lights, Qin Guanglin suddenly felt a little regret as he looked down at the petite hand in his sleeves. It was so hot now. Why didn't he wear short sleeves?

He firmly refused to admit that he was wretched. He just wanted to see if there were no sleeves… where would she grab? The corner of his clothes?

At the thought of this, he looked at He Fang's face and found her staring at him suspiciously.

"What are you thinking about?" He Fang's line of sight shifted towards his sleeves and then at him again.

"Nothing." Qin Guanglin avoided her gaze and pretended to look at the traffic lights.

"Really?" He Fang chuckled. Her petite hand moved and grabbed his hand.

It was soft and somewhat cold.

Qin Guanglin's heart suddenly skipped a beat, but he did not dare to look down at her. He hesitated for a moment, then quietly tightened his hand.

He let out a silent breath. He was already in his twenties, and it was just holding hands, so what was there to be nervous about?

But holding hands like this… Does that make them more than friends?

Or does it not?

It probably does, right?

"The light's green," He Fang reminded him.

"Oh, let's go." Qin Guanglin instinctively glanced at her, then he looked to the front with his head held high and focused on crossing the road.

He Fang seemed to have found something interesting, and so she smiled cheekily.

Once they crossed the road, she casually let go of his hand. "Are you hungry?"

"It is time to eat. What do you feel like eating?" Qin Guanglin subtly wiped his hand in his pocket. His palm was all sweaty. How useless!

"Let's go this way." He Fang led the way and took Qin Guanglin left and right. Finally, they arrived at a home-style restaurant in the corner of the square.

It was home-style cooking, with not even a single proper sign. There were only five crooked characters written on the wooden board - Shao Ji Home Cooked Food.

"I didn't expect you to bring me here." Qin Guanglin looked left and right. This place was somewhat familiar.

He often came here for dinner with his friends when he was in university. The food was tasty, and the portions were generous. The boss also took great care of them and sometimes even delivered food to them in school in the middle of the night. Even after two years since he graduated, he would come here to have a meal.

"Long time no see, Qin." The boss was a sturdy, fat man weighing over a hundred kilograms. With his usual loud voice, he greeted Qin Guanglin warmly. "What would you like to eat today?"

"Uncle Shao," Qin Guanglin responded with a smile. "Let me look at the menu. You seem busy."

"You brought your girlfriend? Have some tea first." Uncle Shao heartily laughed as he brought over a pot of tea. His little restaurant was not eye-catching at all and was in a terrible location. He mainly relied on the business of regular customers.

"Friend, friend."

"Look." He Fang pushed passed the order sheet to him, then lifted the teapot to wash the tableware for the both of them.

Qin Guanglin took the order sheet. One tilapia, stir-fried shredded carrots, and some cucumber. He could not help but steal a glance at He Fang. These were what he would always eat here.

Did they have such consistent taste?

"Uncle Shao, please." He looked at the order sheet and handed it to Uncle Shao. The portions they served were generous, so these would be enough for the two of them.

"Alright. I'll pick a fat one for you." Uncle Shao took one look at the order sheet and walked towards the kitchen.

"We came here just in time. This place will be packed in an hour." Qin Guanglin watched as He Fang washed the tableware. There was inexplicable peace in his heart.

He Fang took care of everything with a subtle smile. She even poured two cups of tea and pushed one of them over. "I like that painting a lot. Thank you."

"Didn't you already thank me just now?" Qin Guanglin scratched his head. "It's no big deal."

While the dishes were being prepared, more customers came in.

"Sorry for the wait." Uncle Shao placed the tilapia on the table. "Miss, the rice is over there. Please help yourself. Get this lad to take it for you if you wish."

Winking at Qin Guanglin, Uncle Shao turned and called out to someone else. "Young lad, you're off work so early today? What would you like to eat?"

"Let me help you." Qin Guanglin stretched out his hand to stop He Fang from getting up. He took two bowls to get the rice.

He Fang had no intentions to diet. She finished her bowl of rice and let Qin Guanglin get another half bowl of rice for her.

"Do you want some soup?" Qin Guanglin never had the habit of drinking soup, but he suddenly remembered and wondered if she had this habit.

"I'll just drink tea." He Fang put down her bowl when she was done and rubbed her stomach, looking satisfied. She then took another piece of tilapia, removed the bones, and placed it in Qin Guanglin's bowl.

Seeing his eyes widen slightly, He Fang looked up and pondered. "Well… just take it as a thank you for that painting."

"No need to stand on ceremony…" Qin Guanglin did not know how to respond to her and could only continue eating.

One picked the bones while the other ate. Soon, it was time to settle the bill.

"Let me treat you." He Fang took out her pink wallet and called Uncle Shao for the bill.

Qin Guanglin calmly took a napkin to wipe his mouth. "He won't accept your money. Keep your wallet."

"The total is 88 dollars. Just 80 will do."

Sure enough, Uncle Shao did not disappoint Qin Guanglin. He straight away stood in front of Qin Guanglin and stretched out his hand.

He Fang did not mind either. She took a small mirror out of her bag and checked herself out. She then took out her lip balm and applied it to her lips. "I'll pay for the movie tickets later."

When they walked out of the restaurant, the sun had set, but the sky was still bright. It was the best time of the day when it was neither cold nor hot.

Mother Qin held a little snuff bottle in her hand. She walked satisfactorily with Aunt Wang to the square, ready to head back.

"It's yours anyway, so just lend it to me for two days." Aunt Wang was empty-handed. She looked in contempt at the snuff bottle in Mother Qin's hand.

"No." Mother Qin shook her head triumphantly. "Ah, this little thing is probably from the late Ming or early Qing dynasties, so I should study it carefully when I get back."

"You're so stingy." Aunt Wang was a little disturbed. She had been keeping an eye out frequently these days, yet such a good thing slipped through her fingers and ended up in Mother Qin's hands.

Mother Qin became more arrogant. "Hey, weren't you also being stingy when I wanted to borrow the cigarette holder from you the last time? This is called…"

"Huh? That guy in front looks like your kid." Aunt Wang interrupted her and looked ahead.

"Lin? Where?" Mother Qin looked ahead and soon found the subject. "Hey, it is him. Come, let's go let him look at my treasure."

"Who's that girl there?"

"Yo!"

Mother Qin stood there and looked at Aunt Wang.

No way!

Aunt Wang stretched out her hand to say hello, but Mother Qin quickly pulled her back. Then, she quietly turned her head to take a peek.

They looked like investigators in plain clothes watching their enemy.

"What are you doing? Let's go say hi and get to know her." Aunt Wang straightened her sleeves.

Mother Qin gestured for her to keep quiet. "Don't say anything. I want to see what they are doing."
