The entire Qu household was in a whirlwind of frenzied activity in preparation for the reception of an esteemed dinner guest. The servants dusted and cleaned the rooms with great care and scoured the entire manor from top to bottom.

They also were busy preparing fragrant dishes and selecting the appropriate alcoholic drinks. Incense was burning...it was like the lively hustle and bustle of celebrating the New Year.

Qu Miao had just emerged from her courtyard. Seeing all the people hurrying about, she took a servant aside and asked, "What's going on?"

"Let me report, my lady. The master said that an honored guest will be coming here tonight, so we must make every nook and cranny of the estate spotless!" the servant replied breathlessly. 

Ah, so that's the reason. They're throwing a banquet to entertain guests. Hmmm. Qu Miao nodded her head casually.
