1 Maybe The King Didn't Notice...

I knew this was a bad idea from the start, Penelope thought to herself.

Standing on top of the solider's Armory Department, Penelope just saw her her comrade jump into the freezing river.

What other choice did she have now? All the senior soldiers are watching from the safe and cozy ground while waiting for her to drop from A 46 meter building and survive.

Penelope made the wise decision to cross dress as a male and enter the elite force to earn some money for her poor family. However, she should've thought of all the consequences before going through with her plans.

What did she expect from the creatures of such as boys to have the common sense as jumping into freezing cold water could result in death.

She made a regretful glance at them and noticed that they were all drunk and cheering for her to hurry up and jump.

The wind picked up and her heart began to rumble even louder. Her trembling legs felt like they were being eaten up by the ground, "Come on Lad, we don't got all 'ight!" an old man yelled from the crowd.

Why don't you jump instead, Penelope wanted to shout back. How did she always manage to wind herself up in these kind of situations?

A little fairy like creature flew out from her pockets and chimed in a bell like voice "Come on penny if you don't do this we won't have anything to feed ourselves!"

"Can you check how far up we are before giving encouraging words Lilly" Penelope cried

"I guess it can't be helped then, " the little thing fluttered it wings and a illuminating words of spells surrounded her "you just need a little push"

The ominous wind picked up even more and gushed Penelope into the air. From below it seemed as though she took a leap of faith and they all cheered her on.

"Atta Boy, I knew you could do it!" their loud cries erupted

Penelope's eyes turned into a gold color and when she reached the tips of the water she stopped falling. A loud splash could be heard from the impact of her stop but not a single drop of water was on her.

The cheers from before grew even louder as they thought their last bit of new comers dropped into the freezing water. The ones that jumped gathered around them and cheered along while the seniors praised themselves "Haahaa I knew this would be a success!" one called out

"shut up you old fool, you didn't even jump when you first joined" another voice laughed

"ai-" the cheers turned into chants and Penelope could only imagine what those crazy bastards were doing now.

She slowly floated into the safety of the cold ground while her golden eyes slowly dimmed back to their emerald green color.

"Why do boys always get the crazy end of the genes" she sighed

"I mean they wouldn't be here fighting if it wasn't for their crazy genes" Lilly laughed sweetly

"but they always have extra stupidity they- "

"oh?" Penelope quickly crawled into the bushes and her little friend dived in right after her when they heard a deep tenor voice from behind them.

"Did the young boy not fall here," The king! Penelope started to hyperventilate in the bushes all the while trying to stay quite "I am quite sure the splash was here." he hummed

"maybe he has already joined the fight your honor" a chill lacy voice giggled. With that, heavy footsteps walked their way towards the chanting.

"Lilly, what were you doing we could've got caught!" Penelope yelled quietly

"I didn't hear anything I swear!" her little confused as well quietly peeked from the bushes to make sure they were gone and flew out in a hurry.

"Let's go back to the dorm," she advised "where you should've been before you got yourself into this situation"

"I'm sorry, they were so pushy I didn't know what to do" Penelope laughed "do you think they saw us talking?"

"No, I'm sure I would've sensed them if they were watching us"

"okay, I'm hungry so lets hurry back, get in my pocket" Penelope vanished into the dark and quickly moved through the night like a feline. All the while secret pairs of eyes watching her carefully.
