Esteemed

Bast stood in the Library of Grand Sorcére her hair fluttering wildly even though there was no wind as a staggering amount of energy flowed out and around her, Pure magical energy condensed within her palms rapidly changing attributes at the sound of Grandmaster Flores commands, Basts' eyes glowed, suddenly the energy coming out of her began to grow exponentially, buffeting Grandmaster Flores forcing him to take numerous steps backwards before stopping long enough to erect a stronger barrier around himself.

"Good, we'll stop here." He said, clearly more exhausted than she was.

"Grandmaster, Grandmaster did you see?"

"Foolish girl, Of course i saw." he said with a smile.

"Congratulations Advanced Adept, You are only a single step away from achieving the level of Basic Esteemed." well done!" he said tucking a lock of her sleek black hair behind her ear even as he secretly thought 'Is this girl a monster?'

Bast was noticeably pleased.

Her rate of improvement was simply absurd, once she reached the level of Basic Esteemed she would be allowed to learn her first dragonslaying spell, and naturally she would choose to learn the most powerful one she can.

Draconic Spirit: Assimilate a Dragons spirit to gain a connection to the land, resistance to magic increased, spell power increased, speed increased.

Draconic Spirit was a buff spell, allowing one to contend on par with Dragons, it was also a spell that only Mages could learn.

Having completed her training for the day Bast still felt a vast pool of energy within herself, this immense reservoir strained against her pores, pressing against her fingertips seeking release, choosing to acquiesce, Bast emitted power so dense the space around her trembled, stemming the flow in shock Bast stared at her hands, pure energy was still leaking out of her causing the air to ripple, feeling hopeless Bast shut her eyes and released a massive unrestrained formless pulse of energy into the sky, the barrier shook violently as it fought to contain the energy, defending from the inside was not within its calibrations, cracks began to form, spreading visibly along the outer sphere of the barrier.

"Is this the power of an Advanced Adept?"

Bast looked down at her hands in horror.

"Am I a monster?"

Ra felt the disturbance vividly, it shook him to his core, abandoning his challenge in the Arena, Ra raced in the direction of Grand Sorcére, seeing the crack in the barrier continuing to spread he emanated his aura of an Legendary Heroic soul, using pure soul energy to seal the crack and stop its spread, Ra's strength flagged slightly and his movements slowed.

"What kind of existence laid this barrier when sealing a small crack taxes me this much?" he complained silently, he soon found Bast beneath the origin of the crack and, lifting her into his arms, his body flickered and he disappeared.

Basts' body was emanating a powerful aura as he carried her, she was releasing an incredible amount of strength, Ra brought her to the Arena and, challenging a low grade Infant Green Dragon, sealed the space surrounding them allowing Basts' berserk energy to run rampant, When Basts' aura finally stabilized, it had been 14 hours and Ra was fast asleep, emanating her Aura of a Level 1 Basic Esteemed, Bast easily shattered the barrier surrounding them, destroyed the Dragon and the two of them exited the formation.

Ra woke up next to Bast once again in her room, she had her hand in his hair pulling at the thick brown curls.

"Hey sleepyhead." she smiled warmly.

Ra felt his chest tighten as his heart began to beat rapidly.

"Hey" he murmured, lying his head down against her chest, he breathed in deeply, enjoying the moment.

Bast continued to play in his hair as they spoke about what they'd done since they had last seen eachother, what they've learned, and their training.

When they finally got up they felt closer to one another now than they had in almost 16 years of friendship.

Ra stroked her cheek with his thumb before leaning down and capturing her lips with his, he breathed in her scent and memorized the feel of her lips on his before reluctantly letting her go.

Touching his forehead to hers...

"Soul forming" he muttered

Bast laughed, it was light and airy.

"Go." she said, smiling.

She pushed him out.

Closing the door behind him she sank to the floor against it sighing in contentment, she ran a finger across her bottom lip softly and felt her heart throb.

She was happy...and painfully aware of his absence.
