12 Chapter Thirteen

Kat:

I was sitting there, starring at everyone trying to figure out how I was going to tell Corey and my mate what happened to make me terrified of Chris; when I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see my mother and Aunt Sophie holding each other nodding their heads telling me that I needed to tell my story. So I toke a deep breath and turned towards Corey who was being held by his dad and Stevie. I began to tell them about what happened last summer.

"Last summer, when I went to Texas to spend the summer with Kai, she was seeing a guy named Christopher Rider. At first, everything seemed fine until me second night there. he kept calling and texting her. I asked her what his deal was and she said "oh, he's just worried that's all." I shrugged it off and started a pillow fight like we always have, but I hit her in her ribs and she collapsed to the bed. I was terrified that I had hit her too hard but she lifted up her shirt and I saw a huge bruise covering her entire left side. I asked her what happened and she said that she had been talking to a guy friend and Chris found out. I asked her if she told anyone and she shook her head no so I yelled for my Uncle and he came barging in and saw the bruise. To say he was pissed is an understatement, he wanted to tear Chris apart.

The next day, Kai and I went shopping, she was still ignoring Chris's calls and text but as we came out of Victoria Secrets there he was. She told me she would meet me in the food court in ten minutes and walked over to him. I could hear him yelling at her and her trying to calm him down but it just got worse. I saw him punch her in the stomach. I ran to her and he just smiled at me, and then walked off with some other girl standing near by. I helped her up and we went to the food court. She didn't eat but got a drink and then said we were not going to let what happened ruin our day, so we just continued to shop. That night we went out to a local werewolf bar and had some fun. It didn't last long because HE showed up.

We were drinking and dancing when he showed up and grabbed her arm and started dragging her towards the back of the bar. I followed so I could try and help her but what happened next will literally scar me for the rest of my life." I lifted up my shirt a bit to show the scar that led down my stomach and just bellow the top of my jeans, earning a growl from Stevie. I quickly lowered my shirt back down and started to cry more. "Stevie, please let her continue. It's hard enough having to watch my son in pain while hearing that his mate was being abused, please?" Aunt Sophie was right, it's killing me to see my cousin in pain like this and sadly the only person strong enough to hold him back his dad.

"Corey, I'm sorry. I know it's killing you to hear what I have already said but it gets worse. As I followed them, I called my Uncle and had him on speaker phone in my pocket. When Chris stopped, is was a storage room with two beds in it. He had a friend in there waiting for him who grabbed Kai as Chris turned around and grabbed me and throw me onto one of the beds. Next thing I new Kai and I were waking up in the hospital. We had bruises all over our bodies and Uncle Thomas was going off on the guards outside our room. I looked over at Kai and she was crying in pain so I yelled for Uncle Thomas and he came running to her. The doctors said that it was a miracle we even survived especially Kai she was worse than I was. Yes I had a severe laceration to my abdomen and was raped but Kai, Kai was raped and beat to a pulp and had multiple broken bones. She was left for dead." As I spoke, could feel the tears pour from my eyes. "Three weeks later, we were released from the hospital. We were at her house relaxing in her room when her phone rang, it was an unknown number so she answered it to see who it was. It was Chris. She started yelling at him then told him it was over and that she never wanted to see him again. I could faintly hear him say something to her about how she wasn't good in bed anyways but that I was. I began to cry uncontrollably as we sat there with her holding me, the window in her room shattered. There was glass everywhere and then there was two guys in her room one being Chris and the other was the guy from that room. They started coming towards us when Uncle Thomas came in to see what happened and the other guy charged at him while Chris fled out the window. Naturally, Uncle Thomas being strong and powerful, he killed the other guy instantly. Then he said that I would be safer if I came home. So the next day, I came home and Chris was never seen from or heard from again until Kai's first day of school here."

I sat there crying while I watched Corey shaking uncontrollably and Stevie looked like he was ready to kill anybody who tried talking to him. I tried saying I was sorry that I should have told him when he first asked me why she was so distant but Corey spoke first. "Do you know of anywhere, here in Jersey, that he could have taken her? I need to find her as soon as possible." I could only think of one place. "He may have taken her to the old dance studio we used to go to in the summer when she would come here to visit. She had a banner for it in her room in Texas."
