16 We Are Young

(Okay, some people were commenting that it doesn't make sense for a child to be singing these songs, so I decided to increase the age of the MC. He is now 13 years old, same as the girls, while Himiko is 14. I want to keep it like that so I can still use some plans that I have in the future. Hopefully that appeases you guys.)

Himiko arrived at the orphanage today and me and Ms. Portman welcomed the girl. I gave her a tour of the place, like I did the Cuban orphans when they arrived, and we ended up in the cafeteria at the end where food was waiting for us.

The food was just some spaghetti, nothing fancy because I didn't want to have to make burgers for everyone again so soon. Himiko looked like she was in heaven, savoring each bite of the spaghetti with an ecstatic smile on her face.

"This is so good!" She complimented the food after finishing her second bowl. I was happy that she liked the food, otherwise I would have to sort out some special menu to include her needs. "Who cooked this?"

"I did, Ms. Portman helped me cook it though." I wouldn't claim that I could still do everything alone, with my height I can't reach the top cupboards, so Ms. Portman still has to help me.

"No way! Is there anything you can't do?" Now that she mentions it, I do a lot of work around the orphanage. I help Ms. Portman cook, I get new rooms ready for other orphans, I even clean when Ms. Portman is too busy to do it, or there aren't any punished kids doing it.

Maybe I should speak to her about hiring a cleaning lady or something, that way all she would have to do would be cook and I can help her with that. Next time I see her I'll bring it up.

"Well I can't speak Japanese yet, maybe you'd like to teach me." I wasn't planning to go to Japan anytime soon, but things happen so it would be nice to learn a new language.

"Of course!" Himiko was excited to help me with something. I handed her a couple of spare notebooks for her to write down some essential phrases and common words, then she would help me with some pronunciations.

We spent most of the day like this, just hanging out with me trying to get the hang of this language. It would take me a while, but I was sure that I would be able to learn it eventually. Maybe I could even do some Japanese songs when I get fluent in it.

(If you guys want to see that let me know, otherwise I'm just gonna stick with English songs)

After dinner I went back to my room, doing my routine of trying to remember more songs that I could use, writing down the lyrics then going to sleep. My notebook was filling up quickly, I would have to get a second one soon.

The week passed by quickly and finally it was time to go back to the recording studio to record more songs. Danny was ecstatic to see me once again, excited to see what my other songs would have to offer.

"Kid, you have no idea how good these songs are! You could make millions with a single one!" I ended up with dollar signs in my eyes hearing what he was saying. I finally would be able to do more for the orphanage by donating some money there.

"How much would I be able to make with these then." I gave him a second notebook that I had started that held more songs that I was planning to make into a second album. I wouldn't release it right now, maybe when I was 15 or something I would release it.

During the gap I would release singles and go on tours around the globe, leaving a clone to look after the orphanage while I go party in the USA. I had it all planned out, now I just needed for Ms. Portman to agree to let me leave the country.

"How the hell do you do it?" Now there were dollar signs in Danny's eyes. I'm sure that he can see the potential of these songs and how much money we're going to make by releasing them. "No one would think that you wrote this kid."

"Doesn't matter what they think, the only thing that matters is the truth." I shrugged my shoulders, already expecting people to be skeptical. People will always think that an adult wrote them and I was just taking credit, but screw them.

"Alright, enough about these," He handed me back my notebooks and stood up from his chair. "Now that it's just us today we should be able to record a couple of songs without Chloe stopping our session early."

We walked to the recording room and stepped in. I activated my quirk to split and had them go over to their instruments. I walked towards the microphone and put on the headset, ready to begin singing.

"Alright, last session we did 'Life is a Highway', this time I want you to play 'We Are Young'. Think you can do that?" I nodded my head and my clones all got ready to play the song. "And we're recording." The red light turned on and I prepared myself.

"This is Shawn Mendes, take 1 for 'We Are Young'."

I looked towards the recording booth where Danny was once again clapping his hands at my performance. I did a curt bow, acting as if I was onstage and addressing an audience. Then I thought, I might as well bring up the idea of doing a concert with Danny and see what he thinks.

"Hey, I was thinking about doing a concert after we finish recording all of the songs, what do you think?" I could even ask him to organize some other artists to play in the concert as well, making sure that the performance is an average length of 3 hours.

(I looked online and the average length of a rock concert is 3 hours so I'm gonna go with that.)

"I think it's a great idea! Because your first song is already the most charted song in the US, congrats on that by the way, people will be lining up to hear your music live!" I didn't even know 'A Million Dreams' was already at the top of the charts, who would've guessed.

"In that case, can you call some famous artists or groups that are willing to play in a concert with me for some opening acts. My album is less than an hour long, even with 'A Million Dreams' so I'll need people to increase the length of the concert."

"You got it, you just need to convince your caretaker and Chloe to agree to organizing the concert. That Chloe woman scares me." Danny shuddered as he thought about Chloe and her strong personality.

"Got it, I'll have them convinced by the end of the week!" We continued practicing the songs for the day until it was time for me to go home. Now I just needed to convince Ms. Portman to let me do the concert.
