12 You Scared Me

"Didn't I tell you not to stay up late?" the moment Lucas settled in the car, Brandon asked him with his unhappy voice.

"I am sorry, we were studying at Lea's and didn't pay attention to time. We only noticed it was late when her mom called us for dinner."

"You scared me," Brandon said. "The rouges are more daring these days and it's dangerous to walk around at night. Please be careful next time, at least call me to come and get you from her house. This will be safer, we will give your friend a ride," said Brandon.

"I am sorry, this wasn't done intentionally," said Lucas.

"I know, I am just worried about you guys."

He drove his mate home and told Aldrin and Mike about this. He didn't like them walking alone at night. However, it was too early for him to be demanding in this relationship. He was very worried about their safety but he also understood they had to study. So, the only solution was to ensure he fetched them once they are done.

"Relax, we just have to talk to them at school tomorrow. Besides Lucas, knows what is happening, I am sure he will be careful next time. He might have been more focused on studying and didn't notice time," said Aldrin.

"Let's talk with them tomorrow. This will also help us to get close to them," said Brandon.

Mike found this amusing and he was also envious. He didn't have a mate. So, it was hard for him to understand their concerns. Though he had some sort of idea of what it was like, he still needed to experience this kind of feeling everyone spoke of.

"I am kinda' jealous, but it scares me a little the way you seemed to be very agitated. I am not sure if I will ever get used to caring for someone else, more than I care for myself," commented Mike.

"I get where you're coming from. I always thought those other mated people were overreacting, but now I understand why they always seemed anxious."

"Yeah, me too. I always felt they were overdoing it. The thought of anything happening to Lea makes my heart bleed. It's like some invisible sword is slowly stabbing me." he sighed. "It's a scary man. It just feels like a part of your soul will be gone forever."

Man, that's deep. The only thing to acknowledge he had them was to only nod. He was not sure what to say because he wasn't even that emotional when his grandparents were killed by rogues. He considered them very important people in his life.

He can only hope he will feel the same as others when he meets his beloved. He was not an emotional person, he got irritated easily and this is the reason why he picked a fight with Julia the other day. Speaking of that bitch. he wondered when will Aldrin deal with her.

He must have been preoccupied with the crowning ceremony preparations. He will be crown as the King when they graduate and this was only two months away. Being the alpha of all alpha's was a big deal. This crowning needed Lea to be available, this must also be another problem as she had no idea about their species.

Lea went back to her room to study again after her friends left. She was needed to be ahead of the questions they did earlier. She will then share what she had done with them tomorrow. She was not sure why but she felt something sinister when she was saying goodbye to them earlier.

It was not safe to leave that late, she wanted them to leave her house when the sun was still out, so making sure this was possible. She had to study hard and make extra notes for them to go over at school tomorrow.

Exactly at 11:30 pm, she received a message.

"Are you still studying?" she was confused as this was a number she didn't have on the phone.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"Aldrin." answered the sender. "This just hurt my feelings. I was so sure you'll be anticipating me getting in touch. I guess, I didn't make an impression," he stated.

"It's not like you're the first person to ask for my number," answered Lea.

She felt a bit guilty when she sent that message, though it was rather confusing why she felt so. It was not like she lied or something but she felt like she shouldn't have said that.

Will that hurt his feelings?

"So... You have many suitors," though Aldrin was fuming with rage, he still found himself composed.

It was no surprise people suited his mate, she was rather alluring. He knew that many guys wanted her, even some girls were into her.

"Well if you can say that. Though I am convinced they were doing it because of some bet. I overheard one of the jerks saying so to his friends," answered Lea.

"He felt so good about himself and forgot to look in the mirror, I mean he is totally ugly," she commented.

"That is mean," answered Aldrin, "On a serious note, I don't get why you look down on yourself. Just stop doing it. You're really beautiful and charismatic, I don't get the name-calling thing," replied Aldrin.

"Stop trying to fluter me. I know what everyone thinks at school. The looks say it all," said Lea.

"What they think shouldn't matter but I understand it still does have an impact. However, Lea. I would like you to ignore what they say. Only you know how much value you have and only you can put a stop to what they think of you. You should tell them to go and fuck themselves, honestly, they should mind their fucking business," he answered honestly.

"It is easier to say than done. However thanks for the advice. I will try my best to tell them off, by the way, what do you want?"

"A date" he answered quickly.

"What about a date?" Lea was confused. Is he asking her out?

"Me, you, this Saturday. On a date. That's what I mean," came this as the answer.

"Sounds to me as a demand than an invite," replied Lea

"Why are you always this fierce with me?" asked Aldrin.

"I am not sure, but was I lying?" Lea responded.

"I am sorry I come off like this, this is the normal me when I am with my family and friends. Brandon pointed it out the other day, but I am struggling. Please understand I am not trying to intimidate you and I would like to go on a date with you." stated Aldrin.

He was not trying to come off as a jerk to her, it was just him being himself.

Very unromantic.
