20 Her Mother's Tantrums 3.

Walking downstairs Lucille was welcomed by the mouthwatering aroma, she froze midway. Did he buy food from the restaurant?

How dare he was money because he wants to avoid punishment? She saw she was going to make sure he regretted this decision. That money would have been great for her new phone, after all, it was his fault she broke her last one.

Lucille was so angry about her husband wasting money, she stomped down the stairs. Her fury was evident in her eyes and face. She wanted to vent all the anger inside her.

"So, your father decided to waste money buying food, instead of cooking. How can he be so lazy?" she ranted whilst she headed to the kitchen.

Lea did not respond, because she was busy taking the meat out of the oven, it was then Lucille entered the kitchen.

"What is this?" she asked in surprise. She was so sure her husband bought the food, only to see her disrespectful daughter taking the meat out of the oven.

Lea ignored her mother because she knew another fight was coming and she didn't want to be rude to her mother.

"I am talking to you, Lea. Why are not answering?" she asked in frustration.

"I cooked, dad didn't waste money buying food," she responded.

"You. Cooked?" Lucille started to laugh in mockery. If anything she knew her daughter cannot cook.

Did they think they can fool her by taking the meat out of the oven as if she cooked it, and present it to her?

"Where are the boxes? How dare Jonah waste money instead of cooking himself? This money could have bought me a new phone," she stated.

"Seriously mom, give dad a break. He is tired from work and you expect him to cook because of your so-called punishment. What has he done to you, to hate him so much?" teared up Lea.

She didn't understand her mother sometimes. Why she always treated her father like this?

"If you're angry at me, why must you take it out on dad? I have already told you I cooked this food and he didn't buy anything. You don't believe me, call aunt Alice and ask her if I am not able to cook?" continued Lea.

She was really mad at her mother.

"You broke phones all the time in the fit of your anger and then you will blame dad for it. You will see new things from a friend house, then come back ranting at dad that he is useless, forgetting all the money is wasted on your new phones. This is why there is no improvement in this house. Why must you take all your frustrations on him?"

Lucille looked at her daughter in hatred, she didn't understand why this daughter of hers was hell-bent on disrespecting her, but he was very unhappy. Both of them take each other's sides. What about her?

"Shut up Lea, whatever problems or arguments happen between me and my husband are none of your business. You're a child in this house, how dare you lecture me? This boy of yours has gotten in your head I see. Now you don't know how to respect your mother," she said in anger.

"Mom, can you please stop including other people in the problems that were already there. I am sorry you feel I have gone overboard and included myself in your marriage with my father, but I am part of this family. I cannot just sit here and pretend that everything is alright when it isn't. You're my parents and you using me to start arguments with my father is uncalled for."

"You knew he was at work yet you call him and demand he comes back, then if he had done so and was dismissed at work. Who would you have blamed? Him. Isn't unfair that he always is the one in the wrong and not you? Mother, do you ever take a step back and look at your behaviour? I know was wrong to speak to you that way early and I apologise for that. However, it is not right for you to act more childish than me," she told her mother.

"You always say we don't appreciate you here but have you forgotten dad never forgets the anniversaries, he takes you out on your birthdays, her cooks you breakfast on mothers day. He always applies for leave for these special days. What about the special vacations, the ring you wanted, many and many more things. He is not a millionaire but he always ensures you get everything you need and want, this is why he works all the time," Lea told her mom.

"Why don't you sit down and talk nicely with him, instead of shouting and calling him names? You're ruining this family." after she said she left with the chicken to the dining room.

Flabbergasted Lucille stood in the kitchen for a long time. She knew that sometimes she can be too much, but she didn't realise how much impact she has done on her daughter. She was ashamed but she still refused to admit she was at fault.

Her husband was neglecting her, he should have listened to her when she was frustrated. What if she was in trouble and he dropped the phone like that? He didn't even listen to her, he dismissed her as one of his workers. She was not willing to accept this and if they thought the guilt trip will work, well anything was coming.

She heard her daughter speaking on the phone, she tiptoed to listen to what was happening.

"I am fine, I just had some argument with my mom. You know she can be too overprotective. Lucas I just spent 3 hours out today, and she made it as if I wasted my whole life. She is not giving e the freedom to grow. I am always cooped in this house, no wonder I am easily bullied in school," Lea said.

"Worse part is that she never let dad off if we argue together. Some things shouldn't be dealt with this way, but she never listen to anyone, she thinks we're not appreciating her,"

"What do you mean? You know I study so hard to make her happy, because I know she feels guilty that she was never a good student. I thought I would be enough if I get good grades, but now she won't allow me to go on dates. She said this is the reason why there is too much teenage pregnancy. She doesn't trust me at all," Lea said annoyed.

"Yeah, he did ask me last night. So, I agreed. I was wondering," she replied.

"I was so nervous. I really cannot believe a guy like him asked me out," she said. "Yeah, he asked for a second date. We will see. I still can't get around the fact I was with him today,"

Laughed Lea and blush at whatever Lucas said on the other side of the line.

"I don't know really. I just feel right and safe with him. So, I am going to take a gamble," she whispered.

"No way, she would freak if she knew. I seriously think something is bothering her. She just needs to speak about it because she was never like this," commented Lea.

"My mom is the best, she just needs to give herself a break and forgive herself. I think it's a psychological thing. She is afraid of failure happening again. She forgets this is what is needed in life so we can learn t be better. I will try to understand her," she chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah dude I got it. I will apologies to her." She sighed. "Sure, goodnight"

She sighed again. Lucas was right, she went overboard today. She must apologise to her mother.
