18 Her Mother's Tantrums 1.

The moment Lea got in her house Lucille bombarded her with questions and voiced her dissatisfaction.

"Where have you been? Buying sanitary products nerve takes this much time Lea," said Lucille.

Lea just looked at her mother with annoyance. Geez, is she being serious? It was only 3 hours, and it feels like it was her whole life.

"I am talking to you, young lady. You're supposed to study, not roaming around doing God knows what," she said with a stern voice.

"Mom seriously? It's Saturday. I study every day, all week and I don't have time to breathe once on a Saturday?" she asked her mother.

"Don't give me that attitude Lea. The time you wasted today will never be given back, why don't you understand that?" she said with anger.

"I am doing this for your future, and now you give me attitude. Young lady, are you questioning me? Huh?" she seethed.

"God mom, I understand clear you don't wish for me o have a life like yours. But my brain has to cool down, I cannot just stop having a life because you are scared I will become another you. I appreciate your efforts, but this is suffocating. You monitor everything I do, how am I suppose to get challenges and learn from them? It was only 3 hours and I can easily cover it later on. Plus, I have never failed and it will not start now because I gave myself a break," said Lea with a grievance in her heart.

"Oh! I see, you think you know better now, huh? Do you think your mother is stupid? WHO IS THE BOY YOU WERE WITH?" She yelled.

"Mom, girls at my age are dating and there is nothing wrong with it. It's not like I am sleeping with him. This was the first time I went on a date. Why are you overacting?" Asked Lea.

"Overacting? This is the reason why there is a high teenage pregnancy, it is because people think it's right for kids to date. Well news flash, you will not see this boy again. I will not have you wasting your future with a delinquent." she said with anger.

"Mom, please. You don't even know the guy and you're already calling him names? I mean no disrespect but you can't control my life. I appreciate you are looking out for me as a parent but you cannot dictate my life. No, I will not allow it. The thing I hate the most is people trying to relive their lives through their children. Mom, I get you to regret many things in your life but do not make them my responsibility." she said to her mother.

"This will be the first, no boys Lea you're too young. Read your books Lea and don't waste time on friends, you will choose my career and my husband for me. This I forbid mother. This is my life, I get to choose how I live it. What I need from you is support, not control. I need you to warn me about life difficulties." Her mother looked at her with ridicule and a bit of hatred.

"A mother would say, okay Lea. I see you are at this stage now, let me advise you. Don't have intercourse with the boy until you graduate college. If he loves you, he will respect your wishes. If he pressures you, he is not the one for you, dump him. Lea baby girl, make sure you never let your peers pressure you into doing something you don't want. So on and so on." said Lea to her mother.

Seethed Lucille with anger. How dare her daughter teach her how to be a parent? Did she think she knew better than her? She didn't want her to make the same mistakes as her. Was it wrong for her to want a better life for his daughter? How can she ridicule her than accepting her love and support?

She didn't understand what was going with Lea. How can she talk to her mother like that?

"So, you think you have grown up now and know everything? Okay, go on. Live your life the way you want. I am sorry that I cared for you and I wanted you to have a better life. I am sorry I was being a caring parent but I was seen as a nuisance. Unbelievable! How can you choose that boy over your mother?" she said with tears in her eyes.

Lea knew what her mother was doing and she was not going to give in. This reverse psychology act was not going to work on her.

"Trying to guilt trip me isn't going to work, mom. I will go and study now, I suggest you also reflect on your words today. This behaviour is overboard and you throwing tantrums for your little time spent on me, is not on," Lea voice her thoughts.

"I will never be cooped in this house as if I am in isolation. Even if I was not on a date, I would be sleeping in to get some rest. So, I don't get the point of you acting up. This is not new at all. I am sorry if I am being disrespectful, but I will not be bullied at home as well," after she said that, she left her mother Lucille in the living room blowing up in anger.

Lea knew she went overboard and disrespected her mother, but she needed to voice her feelings. This has been long coming but she was afraid her mom will blame it on Aldrin, and take it out, on her father.

Lea always felt her mom never really cared about what she thought, and what she wanted in life. She always pushed her to read the books. This was also one of the reasons her mother would always fight with her father.

Jonah was a loving father and husband but a workaholic, he was hardly at home. So, all the pressure and complaints were always pushed on her by her mother. It was worse if her father started to speak about supernatural species. Though Lea never took everything her father said to heart, he always seemed so serious, this made her listen and believe some of the stories.

However, her mother will become ballistic. She may have her reasons, but she can be too much with her words. Lucille was feeling a pain she never felt before. She couldn't believe the way Lea spoke to her, and to think she looked down on her mother, was appalling to her. So, she called her husband to come and deal with this spoiled daughter of his.

"Jonah, get home this moment. Your daughter just disrespected me because of a boy," she said with anger over the phone.

"Lucille, I am still at work and I cannot just leave because you argued with Lea. I will talk to her when I get home," he said with a tired voice.

"Oh, I see. Your work is more important than this family. Did you teach her to speak this way with me?" she screamed.

"Don't be unreasonable. I work so we can survive and how can I teach Lea to disrespect you? I gotta go now, my boss is calling me," said Jonah.

"No, you get home this ins...." a dial tone was heard indicating the phone being cut off.

"Ahhhhhh..." screamed Lucille in anger as she smashed the phone on the wall.

"HOW DARE HE HANG UP ON ME?" she was so angry at her husband's disrespect and that daughters insults.

"I will teach them a lesson today," she decided not to cook. This was to show them, she is important too.
