Dead I Say!

'What's this? Where am I? What's going on?' Why is this happening? How is this happening? Am I dead yet? is this heaven or hell?"

The classic what, where, why, how were the first questions that came to Karen's mind as she drifted through time and space.

Looking around she could see her life play out before her eyes. She could only calm down and focus her mind. From the second she was born to the time of her death. It all was showcased. She couldn't help the tears that fell when it came to her parents death. She couldn't pay attention any longer.

After what seemed like forever, a pulling force started to act on her soul body. Panic settled in as she tried to resist only to realise it was futile. In a split second her vision became blinded. No light reached her eyes.

Waking up Karen felt a headache coming on along with a faint pressure on her lungs. Looking around she couldn't see a thing. 'It's so dark. I wonder where're the streetlamps? There's no moon out tonight.... Hold up! WHAT'S HAPPENING!! Why can I feel walls?! Where the hell am I?! I'm supposed to be dead! DEAD I SAY!!' And with that she started to hyperventilate. 'Calm down Karen, Calm down. Keep calm, nothing's gonna happen. Everything is fine.' Giving herself a pep talk, Karen used the wall as support and tried to stand, only to almost fall due to the killer heels she was wearing. 'What the fùck?! Who the hell wear these?' Wobbling in the six inches heels, Karen picked a direction only to end up facing a next wall blocking her exit. She had no other choice but to go the opposite way. Finally reaching the exit of the alley, she saw some light around fifty meters away that belonged to what looked like a nightclub. Furrowing her brows she tried to remember when she passed a nightclub but came up blank. It was then she realised the night wasn't as dark as she thought. Her senses were returning one by one.

Turning the opposite direction of the club, she started trekking forward and it was then she realised the night was freezingly cold. She then noticed she was in nothing but a flimsy black dress that was mid thigh in length with strappy red heels. Her brows couldn't help but furrow deeply. 'I must have a coat somewhere. I'll have to look at where I came from.' And with that she went back to the alley she came from. On returning she couldn't help but freeze. A dumpster was directly before where she was previously and it was then she began to smell the pungent odor drifting about the alley. She hurriedly searched for a coat she knows this body must've worn. Finally finding what she was looking for she turned to leave but spotted a half empty water bottle beside the dumpster. She couldn't help herself when she reached out to grab it because she finally noticed how sore and broken her throat felt.

Finally leaving the alley, she heard the upbeat music drifting on the wind coming from the club. She turned the opposite direction and continued through the night in her high heels with her long coat as she sipped her water. While she was walking she kept thinking of how she ended up where she did and whose body she was in. Cause this wasn't hers. She didnt have curly hair and she didnt have caramel skin. She didnt have pink colored nails and she never wore clothes like this. She could only thank God that the body seemed to have a muscle memory of how to walk in heels this high.

With that she walked and walked and walked until the first ray of the sun passed over the horizon. She couldn't help but marvel at its beauty. By this time her water bottle was already drained of every drop of water.

Taking her gaze away from the rays of the sun, she continued on her journey and took her coat off as she started sweating. She paused midway as she noticed obvious handprints on her wrist as well as what looks like dried blood beneath her nails. Her heart couldn't help but skip a few beats, wondering what the hell happened to this body. 'Why does it seem like she had a worse death than me? Wait a minute.... THAT OLD HAGG!! HOW DARE SHE!! I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HER! HOW COULD SHE?!?! PLOTTING and PLANNING and COVETING! I thought she loved me. Was she only pretending? Was she only...? Was she only pretending?' Karen's heart broke at that moment and a strong desire for vengeance was born in her heart. A tear fell and she hurriedly wiped it away. "She doesn't deserve a drop of it. Pull yourself together. You have no tears to waste, you need the fluids." Her cracked voice was heard in the quiet morning as she tried to cheer herself on.

With that she started to walk with a stomp in her steps. Like she wanted to crush her Granny's face with each step. 'I cant believe her! So conniving.' At that time a red car flashed pass her at a speed that could only be called illegal. A few meters after it passed it stopped and reversed to her feet. Bending at the waist she looked at the driver of the Audi R8. He was a handsome man by her standards. Pretty green eyes with dark curly hair a square face and a straight nose.

"Can I drop you somewhere? You look a bit tired." His voice was like warm chocolate in a cold winter morning.

Karen nodded and said in her cracked voice "Just take me wherever you're going." With that she hopped in, put on her seatbelt and rested her head on the glass. She could feel his eyes on her but she ignored him and eventually fell asleep, not knowing what would be there awaiting her in her dreams.
