13 Second Step (2.7)

I release a relief breath as I see the last monster is dead. After I kill the dragon flying toward us, the people begin to get out of the city and start to charge at the monster. It looks like my performance in killing the dragon awakens their will to fight once again.

I then release my Saint George form while rubbing Bayard mane. I smile at Bayard, who vanished into a speck of light that flew to the sky. I look at the people behind me and smile at them. However, before I could do anything, the people ran toward me, picked me up, and threw me into the sky.

"Cheer for the White Healer!"

Woah!

I can only smile helplessly as my body gets carried away by adventurers. It is rather embarrassing being carried away like this, but the good feeling of your name being praised by others makes it all worth it.

Barik POV

Barik the Immoveable Shield. That is the nickname I got from being an adventurer for a long time. In forty years of my career as an adventurer, I met many kinds of people. Some of them are kind, some of them are brave, some of them are cowardly, but one thing I rarely see is a selfless individual.

However, today I met both kinds, selfless and brave individuals. A combination that is so rare and can be considered a myth in this era. That individual is Michael, the White Healer.

That title needs to be updated after what happened today. I already know that he will get another title besides his name: a Dragon Slayer, the Protector of Valur City, or the Shining Beacon of Hope.

Right now, we are celebrating our victory against the Monster Spike. While not everyone fights in the front line, you will benefit from this fight as long as you contribute to this fight. With this system the gods created, the support will also get stronger.

Sadly, many people can exploit this system. For example, the hero and his party will get the benefit of this fight because they are the ones that lead the monster here.

That is one of the bad sides of the system. Too many people use this exploit that all the kings around the world banned doing something like this. There are too many casualties from idiot noble kids who decide to instigate the dungeon to start a monster spike.

"Barik! Come on! Drink!"

I snap from my thoughts when I see one of the adventurers come to me and offer me a drink. I take the cup from him and drink the beer. It tastes better when we are celebrating something and not drinking to forget about something.

I really hope there will be no more trouble happening.

Title: World Walker, White Healer, Dragon Slayer

Level: 2

STR: D (187/200)

VIT: E (100/200)

AGI: E (156/200)

INT: A (160/200)

WIS: A (138/200)

SP: 742

I look at my status inside my own home. After the fight, I attended the party the Guild created to celebrate the victory over the monster spike. However, when it was already late, I decided to go home by sneaking away from the guild building.

So here I'm inside my home looking at my status plate.

It looks like I got another title. Does a title have an effect? I press the White Healer title on my status plate, and to my surprise, a blue panel appears in front of me.

White Healer

A kind person. A selfless person. He who heals people not because of their money, title, or rank but who heals because of the kindness of his heart. He who heals the poor, the damned, and the cursed one. He is the White Healer

{Effect: Increase the effectiveness of the titleholder healing spell by 200%. Decrease the mana usage by 100% if the holder uses Healing Spell.}

Huh, neat. I guess now I know the reason why I did not need much mana to cast my healing spell. The only reason why I continue drinking mana potions is that I cast offensive magic.

World Walker

I see the unknown. I see things mortal should not. I look at the abyss, and the abyss looks back at me. I'm an eternal adventurer. I'm the World Walker.

{Effect: Because of your nature, any kind of divination targeted toward you will fail. Increase the holder affinity to Void by 500%.}

Void? Those that mean I can learn long-range teleportation easily? I don't really know. I guess I need to do some research.

Dragon Slayer

Dragon? Hah! They are nothing but a Giant Lizard with wings!

{Effect: Increase damage to Dragon by 1000%. Decrease any incoming damage dealt by a dragon by 25%.}

That title is a very straightforward one. I give an attack boost when I fight a dragon and reduce the damage taken if I fight a dragon. While it is a simple title, it gives an excellent bonus. A 1000% damage bonus to a dragon is a huge damage boost. While the defense bonus is not as impressive as the attack boost, 25% is still a good bonus.

I smile a little at the boost of strength in my status. I'm pleased with my growth. Now, I have the confidence to explore the world without worrying about monsters killing me. Well, at least, not too many monsters can kill me. I know I can become a temporary God using my skill. Sadly, it did not increase my HP.

Well, I suppose I can choose a Legendary Figure that has the passive ability of invulnerability. I once read that Karna was given armor by his father, Surya, to make him invulnerable. I guess I can choose him as my next Legendary Figure.

I know that people on the earth will either scold me or curse my name for not using mine skillfully. I am not using my skill because I can feel my personality begin to change for each Legendary Figure I called.

Saint George gave me a personality as a martyr. The feeling became stronger when the dragon appeared in the distance while I'm on top of the wall. The feeling to bear the burden of the other that I know did not have in the past is present inside my soul.

Merlin gives me the personality of a prankster, womanizer, and storyteller. This personality is the one that makes me want to tell others about the story I know and the story that I will make and experience in the future. Merlin also gives me the need to prank others and make me have a habit of making women blush.

Hippocrates gives the personality of a researcher. Every new herb, item, and metal that I encounter needs to be researched to see if there is any effect to healing an injury or illness. Hippocrates also gives me the need to help the poor and the sick. The last one I don't really mind.

I'm afraid I will not be myself when a hundred other personalities fuse into my own. Can I still call myself Michael?

Does this only happen when I choose the mortal one? Or will it happen when I choose the immortal one? The skill says that I will not get anything permanent if I choose the immortal individual.

Urgh. It really gives me a headache. I decide not to think about it for now. I need to get up earlier than normal for the distribution of loot. The amount of mana core we got from all the monsters we slew is massive.

And tomorrow, I need to attend the loot distribution and reward ceremony the City Lord will give to all of us.
