8 Past, Present, Future

The warm sunlight kept disturbing the sleep of the silver-haired as he turned his back to the bright windows. His long eyelashes flickered before shutting close once again.

"Chase! Your uncle is calling." Chase opened his eyes to the brown-eyed alpha wearing a office suit but he didn't have the time to admire him as his uncle's name flashed on his phone screen. He grabbed the phone from Charles in a hurry, putting a finger on his lips for him to keep quiet Charles quiet.

The thought about biting the finger in front of him crossed the alphas mind but he discarded the idea knowing the guy's ill-temper.

"Hello, uncle." Getting up from his bed Chase fixed his bed hair entering the bathroom first thing. The hickey's from yesterday were still visible making him frown. He decided not to complain by nitpicking every detail or he will be the a**hole in this situation since he didn't made it clear beforeahead.

He acknowledged the fact Charles was a gentleman in contrast to his first impression. Despite being from an alpha family Chase held a negative perception of male alpha's unconsciously. He never used it in his working life but he was sceptical of them in his personal life. It was also the only reason he never slept with a male alpha even during his college day's loose phase before. All of his dates or one night stands were either omegas, betas or female alphas.

Chase went to the kitchen searching for a quick bite since his heat had left him completely exhausted and deprived of energy. But he felt surprisingly lighter today making his lips turn upward in grin.

But it didn't took much time before forming a furrow between his brows. "The heck! What are you doing in the kitchen?"

Chase put his hand trying to cover up the weird way he spoke. His suprise expression didn't change when Charles showed him the omelet he was cooking.

"Screw those eggs why didn't you leave?" Chase tried massaging his temples trying remembering why he came outside. He looked at Charles with glaring eyes but he was trying to remember things in his head. "I will be right back."

The silver haired stormed out as the reason clicked him. Leaving Charles was standing confused with the silver haired guy's behaviour in the early morning. He shifted his focus once again towards the omelet that was suprisingly looking good, though it didn't hold a good shape, it was edible.

The peace Charles was feeling didn't last long as Chase came in hurry searching for his clothes. "They are in the dryer." The alpha disclosed the information as both of looked embarrassed about last nights incident of scattered clothes. "The breakfast is ready."

Chase nodded as there seemed to be silent agreement in both of them of ignoring the elephant in the room. The atmosphere was awkward for both of them as they were busy checking the other's mood.

"You attended S University." Charles tried holding a conversation with the Omega but he had to put more thought and observation in that single sentence than he did in most press conferences.

"Yeah." Chase lips turned upward in affirming. It was subtle but Charles could see it was something Chase liked.

'Bulls eye.' Charles felt like celebrating inside his head.

The S University was ranked one of the toughest University to enter. Not mention the university had a really low foreign student quota. Charles was ready to shower Chase with praise if that what he wanted. He took bit out of his omelet trying to think about next topic.

*Cough*

"Salty." Charles drank a glass of water, the omelettes he made were salty. He felt horrified at the realisation that the latter ate it without saying anything. The alpha's eyes widen at the realisation.

"Oh, eat it with toasted bread." Chase passed him the bread as he acted unaffected by the saltyness of the food.

Charles frowned looking as if had lost an job interview. The brown pitiful puppy eyes were too much for the silver haired guy as he kept his guard heavy at first but surrendered at last.

"It isn't that salty and I have lived 17 years alone in board school abroad my taste buds are more or less dead. You don't have to feel bad for giving me one salty omelette." Chase tried his best to make Charles feel better. But he soon realised he wasn't the best with cheering people up.

Charles froze hearing from the silver haired it wasn't bad as his grandfather's army rants but living in board school seventeen years at age of twenty six. 'That was dark.'

In the end the atmosphere remained awkward with a new gloomy feeling to it which only Charles was able to feel.

As his one night stand left Chase called Ryan immediately informing him of his absence for today.

"Send anything urgent on my mail. See if I can join meeting virtually for today? Ask for CEO Nicolas if an emergency you can't handle comes up. And why hasn't the PR department reported to me yet?"

Chase put his phone on the tea table as he sat on the couch with laptop on his lap waiting for Ryan's emails. He tapped his fingers on the keyboard. Now, that he was alone he finally acknowledged the elephant in the room. Both Charles and Chase had different issues even if the people involved in it were same. 'He made a huge mistake.'

Chase drank the coffee from the mug. 'He needed to distance himself from Charles or maybe he could just play dumb not bringing it up.'

Chase opened the browser in his laptop as he started searching for news and information about Charles Zimin. The only solid information he had on Charles was from what he got from his family and business circle.

His first impression of Charles had changed leaving him with no scale to judge Charles with.

|A confident young leader of Galactica group|

|A great self-made millionaire business man|

Chase cracked up reading the headline. The Galactica group was known to be the company run by the Zimin family for over decades. But being from similar background he could understand the need to prove that you worked from the ground. There were many to look down or give unnecessary favor for being from certain family. It was certainly a headache.

Chase decided to add a little bit of fun since most of the business news were boring and nothing interesting. The silver-haired began to surf in some random entertainment news outlets. Despite not trusting any of them Chase was focused reading the articles.

He himself didn't notice he was even grading the scandalousness. Most of them were C grade at most. Just bunch of paparazzis making up affair, secret child stories with some random actors.

*Ring*

Chase straightened his back before picking up his phone. He placed the phone few inches away from his ear.

"YOU UNGRATEFUL grandson, where are you? Did you decided to leave the house on your own? I didn't even pressure you that much." Chase took a breath not knowing how to answer. He closed his eyes cursing his uncle for not telling grandfather beforeahead about his condition.

"No, grandfather...I just not feeling well. I will be home in 2 days." Chase could hear aunt Samantha and other servants voice in the background telling his grandfather to calm down. "May be you could honestly decrease some pressure from me?" Chase chuckled knowing it was going to piss his grandfather off.

"No."

He heard the phone getting cut off from other side. The last bits were probably aunt Samantha getting frustrated due to his grandfather's antics. They weren't paying her much considering the old man's personality.

The silver-haired sighed resting his head on the couch. The grin on his face fading as the room went into silence once again. He could hear his own breathing, Chase starred at his school and college day's photographs in the living room. 'It was great when no one was there.'

After the accident of Xavier family Chase was sent to boarding school aboard at age of six. The Xavier family was unstable after losing their head and mistress. But for Chase that time was probably greater than having to deal with the crazy relatives trying to get benifits from his parents death.

For most part he remembered grandfather Xavier and his uncle protecting them from others. But some of the conversations he overheard at his parents funeral were vivd in his memory.

Several noises started to grew in Chase's brain which weren't in his control.

"The younger one doesn't resemble the head at all."

"I heard the mother was a foreigner and an omega."

"There is a rumour that the couple were going to get divorced."

"What? Maybe the wife really cheated on the head?"

"Don't you think the second child might be an omega, too."

"Even if he is a omega wouldn't the Xavier family find a good family for him. The dowry might be huge."

"The assets might get split in half between the brothers."

"Is William going to accept those two he might want to get head position for himself"

The noises got heavy as it became hard to recognise what even were the sounds speaking.

*Notification*

Chase heard the sound bringing him back to the reality. He wiped his face with a bunch of tissue paper. He didn't even realised when he started crying.

The notification was an emails from Ryan. Chase busied himself with work afterwards not wanting to remember the memories of past. He wanted to focus on the present and future, not dwell in past.
