9 Chapter 9: New-Comers

  "Welcome to the Sanctuary, dip-shits"

I stand by Negan's side on the balcony as we look down on the two new strangers. "These are my two beautiful girls, Lucille and Carmen"

The two men's eyes stare wildly, their bodies covered in scrapes and bruises. The scene gives me flashbacks to when I first met Negan. I was both amazed and terrified.

"Don't stand there being mute, introduce yourselves" Negan chuckles giving me a quick glance before returning his attention to the two men.

"I-I'm Jake, and he's my brother Lucas" The seemingly younger brother, hesitantly speaks. His appearance is similar to a younger Nate, making me feel sympathy for him.

"Simon, where did you find these two?"

Negan yells then leans back in the way that only he does. "On our way back from Alexandra, they tried to rob one of our trucks" Simon answers with a pissed off expression. I sigh to myself, realizing the hell that they are about to be put through. When you manage to get on the bad side of Simon and Negan, it probably isn't going to end well for you.

"So, you mother fuckers got balls!" He throws Lucile over his shoulder and struts down the metal stairs. I don't follow him but instead, walk closer to the rail. Lucas still looks up, making eye contact with me as Jake examines each step that Negan takes.

Jake's stressed-out eyes read my soul, and at that moment he does something unexpected.

He mouths to me, 'help us'. I don't say anything back but it is killing me inside to stay silent while a person is basically begging for their life.

"If y'all are wondering why you were brought here, it's because Simon saw something in you two fuck-wads that could come in handy" Negan now, stands only inches from the two men. "They have pretty good ambushing skills, our men would've been screwed if we didn't have backup" Simon explains.

Negan takes one huge practice swing with his bat, "hot diggity dog, you two have just won yourselves a place on the team!"

The men both look at each other confused. The fact that they are going to live hasn't fully set in yet. "So you're not going to kill us?" The brunette older brother finally speaks up. "Not until we at least try first," Negan approaches them, wrapping his arms around their shoulders. "Now follow me, and I'll give you the grand tour".

"and finally, this is where the meetings take place" Negan swings opens the door to reveal a room with one long conference table and a few chairs. "Wow, this whole place is really amazing sir" Jake ogles as he praises The Sanctuary. Negan chuckles then turns to me, "starting to realize how great you have it here?" I scoff and roll my eyes in annoyance "when is this gonna be over?"

When i say so, baby, just be patient"

"How long have y'all been together?" The older brother randomly interrupts taking me and Negan by surprise. The question sends shock waves through my body, the embarrassment, and shame is nudging me closer to a meltdown. "Long enough for me to make her my wife" he grins then sits in his chair at the head of the table, "anyways, we have important matters to discuss. Starting with job placements."

The brothers take this as a cue and sit also, making me the only one standing, until Negan gives me an irritated look making me submit and take the seat next to him.

"So, which one of you is the mastermind?"

The brothers look at each other, Jake smiles then replies "I am, but he'll never admit it" Lucas shoots him a dirty look in response. "Once the plan is thought out, Lucas helps me execute it. And to be fair, I probably couldn't do it without him"

As Negan speaks with them, I watch how the brothers interact with each other. They seem to be like any other siblings but at the same time, I could sense that there is more under the surface.

The long conversation doesn't interest me, it only makes me dread being Negan's 'wife' even more. He said that I would love the benefits of being with him but so far I've only seen the cons. I don't know what he is thinking if he believes that this is my idea of a good time.
