1 The Castle

Me and my best friend Sara were running in the hallways of the castle, playing tag. All of a sudden, a door slammed open and a old lady walked out. It was Mrs. Pot. "Stop playing in the hallways, you brats!" She yelled. "Go back to your classrooms, right this minute!" Mrs. Pot was a teacher herself, and hated children. I didn't understand why she was a teacher if she didn't like children?

We both nodded and ran back down the hallway. We didn't want to talk back to her or we would get hit with her staff.

Sara held my hand and laughed when we were far away from Mrs. Pot. "She's so wrinkly! I wonder how her husband deals with her!" I giggle and we walk into our classroom. Just as we sit down, the floor starts leaning sideways and everyone starts screaming.

"Don't panic everyone, it's just a drill!" The teacher says. The speaker comes on and the alarm beeps. "THIS IS NOT A DRILL, I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A DRILL! THE WALL HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN!" Our teacher starts screaming, "EVERYONE PANIC!"

The tower we are in tilts more and more, and kids start falling out the classroom.

"Arrggg!"

Everyone stops for a second. We all look out the door and see something we never wanted to see.

Zombies.

Kids grab onto anything that is on the ground until their knuckles turn white. I grip Sara's hand harder and hold onto the pole in the middle of the classroom.

More and more of my classmates fall out the classroom door, being flung onto the zombies. Our feet can't touch the ground anymore and I start to loose my grip. Sara looks up at me with sadness. "You can only hold yourself up, can't you."

I grip onto the pole tighter. "I will not let you go Sara! I can hold us, see?" She shakes her head. As she looks down, the pole starts bending.

(No, no, no! Don't start bending now!)

"Let me go. We both know you and the pole can't carry both of us."

"No! I can't let you go, you're my best friend!"

"Look, Raven. I'm gonna survive, I promise." She starts letting go of my hand.

"Stop it Sara!" I cry. She smiles up at me and lets go completely. Sge falls out the door, and just as she falls into the group of zombies, she mouths the words,

"I'm sorry."
