The Kang Clan’s Unholy Sect.

Kang Yu-Huan lay still, almost lifeless like he seemed, talismans were placed all over his body, keeping him confined to his bed. As he laid with his eyes closed, a loud thud suddenly sounded beside him. "A-Shu?…" the old man's lethargic voice called out.

"No Grandfather, it's me." someone responded. Kang Yu-Huan slowly turned his head to see his grandson kneeling on the floor beside him. Kang Lei sat with his unusual light blue eyes focused on his Grandfather, the top of his long dark hair tied into a top knot and the rest hanging down his back. A smile made its way onto his cute, but handsome face as his Grandfather turned to him.

"…Ah-Lei?" said Kang Yu-Huan, his old weak voice rising, showing a hint of happiness as a small smile graced his face.

"Mn."

"You don't come to see this old man like you use to, are you hunting more these days?" Kang Yu-Huan asked.

"Ehh...something like that Grandfather." Kang Lei lied. "Are you well? Nana say's you haven't been eating much."

"An old man grows tired of conge, who could eat that morning, noon and night?" said Kang Yu-Huan.

"You no longer have many teeth Grandfather, what else could you eat?" said Kang Lei letting out a giggle.

"Kang Lei!" a deep voice shouted from behind.

Growing stiff from the sudden fierce voice, Kang Lei jumped up, lowering his head, "F…father." he said as firmly as he could even though he was nervous.

"I thought I told you to stay out of this room, do you not obey your Father anymore?" said Clan Leader Kang Shu-Huan.

"No Father, Nana told me that Grandfather might not be feeling well, so I came to see." said Kang Lei raising his head to his Father. Clan Leader Kang stood quite a few feet above his son, his tall, built structure towered over most people in the land. With his brows constantly knitted and his mustache giving the appearance that his handsome face was always frowning, not many people had courage to step to this clan leader.

"And what did you find?" said Clan Leader Kang.

"Grandfather seems quite well after all." said Kang Lei with smirk on his face.

"Out!" Clan Leader Kang said firmly, and Kang Lei hightailed out of there.

"A-Shu." Kang Yu-Huan called out to his son. The two made eye contact for a moment before clan leader Kang stepped out of the room and closed the door.

"A-Lei!" he called out to his son that was power walking down the hall. Kang Lei suddenly stopped, turning around with a nervous smile, "Father?" he said as he watched his Fathers tall figure walk toward him and past, Kang Lei rolled his eyes following behind his Father into the main hall.

"Kneel!" Clan Leader Kang shouted! Without hesitation, Kang Lei complied. "Do I need to again explain to you why you should not visit Kang Yu-Huan? Are the talismans not enough for you to remember?" said Clan Leader Kang, flipping out his robe behind him and having a seat on his throne.

"….." Kang Lei said nothing as he lowered his head.

"I know you care for your Grandfather, but he is not the person he once was! His mind is gone and his body is plagued with many spirits of the dead, what will happen to my only born should they rub off on you?" said Clan Leader Kang, his voice angry at first, then growing softer.

Kang Lei rose his head as he heard the concern in his Father's voice, "Forgive me Father, but Grandfather is still there, if you spent time with him you would see."

Clan Leader Kang closed his eyes for a moment, "Rise little fool, there are other matters at hand." Said Clan Leader Kang changing the subject. Kang Lei stood, positioning himself in front of his Father, "What matter's Father?"

"Clan Leader Hai is on his way as we speak, a truce will be signed and discussed. As the pride and future of the Kang clan, you will be present."

Kang Lei rose his brows, "so you're really going to do it Father?" he said surprised.

"What other choice do we have? Without aid we will surely loose this war. The Hai clan have two of the main clans backing them including the minor." said Clan Leader Kang. Kang Lei lowered his head and his Father noticed. "Say what is on your mind son."

Raising his head back up, Kang Lei spoke. "Why would a main clan with so much power asks for the truce? Is it really what they desire? What if they mean to kill us when they arrive?"

"If that turned out to be the case, we are lower in number, but not defenseless A-Lei." Said Clan Leader Kang.

"Grandfather said tha…"

"Indeed, you have been spending too much time with my Father!" said Clan Leader Kang silencing his son. "Whatever is left of Kang Yu-Huan has nothing but hate for the Hai clan. He led his people down a path of destruction, and left me to clean up the mess! Allowing spirits to dwell in his own body so that he would be strong enough to defeat them and look at the old fool now! It may seem like I hate him to you, but all I want is to keep standing what he built. To continue on a place where my son and his sons will be respected among all sects and rule for centuries to come." Kang Lei stared intensely at his Father; he could see that his Father's words were indeed true.

"Clan Leader Kang, Clan Leader Hai has arrived." Said a servant standing at the doorway. Clan Leader Kang nodded, and the servant left.

Turning his attention back to his son, he stood, "Will my son stand with his Father?" said Clan leader Kang. Tightening one fist, cupping it with his other hand and bowing, Kang Lei nodded, "Until Death!" he said firmly. Satisfied with his son's answer, Clan Leader Kang's frown turned into a rare smile.

After a three-day journey, Clan Leader Hai and his disciples had arrived in the town of Xu, the home of the Unholy Sect. The fog on the way up the mountain was quite dense, but lessoned the closer they got to the barrier, it was most likely an illusion to disorient weaker enemies. Once they reached the gate, the Hai clan were greeted by disciples of the Kang clan, dressed in all black with mulberry colored ribbons and accents printed here and there were their clan colors. "Welcome, Clan Leader Hai, we have been anticipating your arrival." Said one of the Kang clan disciples. Cupping his fist, he bowed respectfully, although he seemed as if he was staring at the ground in disgust. As Clan Leader Hai nodded, the disciple stood up, forcing a smile, "This way Clan Leader, Hai.", he said holding out his hand, allowing Clan leader Hai to pass first.

The two groups made their way up the stairs to the Kang manor, and although things were foggy and everything was structured with dark, almost black wood, Clan Leader Hai could see that they were living quite well. As they reached the top of the stairs, blood red orchids dwelled on either side leading all the way up to the manor. The roof of the manor although traditional was pointed up on both ends, almost to resemble the horns of beast.

The two groups continued walking, escorting Clan leader Hai into the main hall, where they came to a stop. "Clan Leader Hai." Said the disciple holding out his hand, that had led them this far. Clan Leader Hai nodded and walked into a rather dark main hall. The wood on the ceiling was draped with mulberry curtains, hanging below, to purposely darken the room although it was daytime. At the end of a long walkway with small tables and cushions on either side sat a rather large man, with his brows knitted and mustache grown past his lips, he seemed to be frowning. At his side stood a young man, with common dark hair, he must have been no older than Clan Leader Hai's own son, but his light blue eyes were something that no one outside of the Unholy Sect had ever seen before.

Clan Leader Hai walked down the walkway toward Clan Leader Kang and he finally stood. "Clan Leader Hai, it is my pleasure to finally meet with my longtime foe.", said Clan leader Kang, stepping down from where his throne sat, cupping his fist, and respectfully bowing.

Clan Leader Hai did the same, "….."

Clan leader Kang turned slightly extending his hand out to his son, "This is my son, Kang Lei, the future leader of the Kang clan." Kang Lei stepped forward, "Clan Leader Hai.", he spoke, respectfully nodding. Clan Leader Hai nodded, observing the obsidian sheathe with seal markings on Kang Lei's waist, the Kang clan most certainly lived up to their name, he had never seen a seal on a sheathe before, what menacing spirit was trapped within that sword?

"Come, sit. Can I offer you food and wine? I'm sure your journey has been long.", said Clan Leader Kang sitting at the long table he had, had prepared. Kang Lei followed, sitting beside his Father as did Clan Leader Hai on the opposite side. The table was silent for a moment as beautiful servant women served various dishes, wine, and water to the three of them. When all the food and drinks were served, Clan Leader Hai did not eat immediately. "Shall I eat from your plate and drink from your cup?" said Clan Leader Kang.

"There is no need." Said Clan Leader Hai, realizing that he had offended Clan Leader Kang, but didn't he have a right to be cautious?

"Then if you do not wish to eat or drink, we can discuss matters now, no need for hospitality right?" said Clan Leader Kang getting up from the table to grab an ink brush and a blank scroll. He sat back down, placing the blank scroll down in front of Clan Leader Hai. "Your Terms." he said firmly.

Surprised at first Clan Leader Hai smiled, "I mean no offense, Clan Leader Kang, forgive my rudeness, please finish your meal." Kang Lei stared at the two, a smile on one's face and the same tight knit brow on the other, this could go wrong at any minute.

"Clan Leader Hai, allow one of our disciples to drink from your cup and taste from your plate, I assure you my Father has no ill intentions.", said Kang Lei. Clan Leader Kang nodded and one of his disciples walked over toward Clan Leader Hai and his disciples.

"Allow me.", said the disciple as politely as he could. Clan Leader Hai sat back and watched closely as the disciple sipped his wine, water and tasted each of the dishes on his plate. When the disciple was done, he made his way back over to stand on the side of his Clan Leader. After a few moments of no reaction, Clan Leader Hai was relieved enough to at least know that Clan Leader Kang wouldn't be petty enough to stoop to an honor less kill with poison.

When the men finished their awkwardly silent dinner, the time had come to discuss the truce.

"Clan Leader Hai, what are your terms?" said Clan Leader Kang.

"Our clans land that you have overtaken you may keep, however the clans that you are currently oppressing must be given up."

"Done.", said Clan Leader Kang and his disciple began to write. "The Kang Clan and it's disciples will be free to travel and hunt as they please, there will be no repercussions if caught outside the Unholy Sect."

Clan Leader Hai nodded, and the disciple continued to write. "However, sacrilegious practices should not be conducted anywhere outside of the Unholy Sect.", he added. Clan Kang leader momentarily brought one corner of his mouth tight, before he nodded, a bit of tension present in the room.

After the disciple finished writing, Clan Leader Kang spoke, "The Kang Clan would like our methods to be classified as proper use of cultivation, respect is all we require."

Clan Leader Hai and Clan Leader Kang eyed each other for a moment, "This is not so simple." said Clan Leader Hai.

"We have already agreed that our sacrilegious practices will only be conducted in the Unholy Sect. If none of it concerns the other clans, then why should it matter how we cultivate?" said Clan Leader Kang firmly.

"With all due respect Clan Leader Hai, but there are methods that the previous Clan Leader, may the Gods rest his soul, used that we no longer familiarize ourselves with. If that's what you are referring to, then you have nothing to fear." Kang Lei added. Clan Leader Kang took a glance at his son, letting a quick momentary smirk form on his face, it was the Kang Clans secret that the old diabolical fool was still alive, no one else needed to know.

Clan Leader Hai cut his eye at the light blue-eyed kid at the table, he was sharp eyed and quick-witted, so it was no wonder his Father had him present. "Even if I declare as so, it will take time for the other clans to accept it, I will do what I can to help it follow through." Clan leader Hai, finally spoke. "You must work in agreement for the soul purpose of peace and nothing more." He added.

"That is our only goal Clan Leader Hai." said Clan Leader Kang. "In addition to our cultivational methods being recognized, we wish to be added as one of the main Clan's."

Clan Leader Hai let out a light exhale, he already knew that would come up, so without hesitation he complied.

The meeting went on for hours, with the main things out of the way, Clan Leader Hai and clan leader Kang only discussed petty issues as far as war damages, food shortages and supplies. When the meeting was done the two Clan Leaders signed the truce, blood stamping the scroll. Afterwards they stood gripping each other's hand, "Next Month is the Hai Clans annual four-day bonding banquet, all clans will be present. You must attend this year as the new main clan. I'd love to see what your young Master can do with a little friendly competition.", said Clan Leader Hai. Clan Leader Kang nodded, "We will be there."

With things somewhat settled, the next day the two Clan Leaders bid each other a farewell and Clan Leader Hai with his servants and disciples departed from the town of Xu and their Unholy Sect.

The two main characters have officially been introduced, more on the way! :D
