7 At the Main Church of the Church of Jetkins

19th November

Taking my steps down the church stairs, I gazed at the grave I saw the first time I visited here—different kind of soils indicating a long time of suffering and witnessing deaths.

I never did lay my hand or foot to this site but maybe, the time has come. It's now or never. I'll take a look at it meters away, or I can roam around for a minute.

My feet started to walk on their own. Clouds of dust immediately covered my shoe steps after another, lessening the distance between me and the graveyard.

Some dark brown soil has seen by my eyes. Too ashy, and the wind didn't help me inhale fresh air at the moment. It stinks, giving me wonders if there's a corpse thrown here or just a mere rotting animal.

I covered my nose and mouth from inhaling the scent. For twenty seconds, I could stop my breathing so that I could observe the place. I was striding the mixed muddy and charcoaled soil, different piles of little mountains ashes visible just a meter away from each other.

"So, this is the known mass grave which has nothing to do with the Higher Ups' eyes," I said in my mind. As if I wanted to inhale those unbreathy air again.

My pace went faster when I've seen someone kept hiding in a tree trunk from afar. The silhouette seems to look at me or watching me over? Either of the two, I must see his or her face. We can talk about what he or she wants.

Before I could grab the opportunity to come near him or her, he or she already ran as fast as he or she could. Indeed, he or she noticed me walking in his or her direction.

Hence, as the sun shone brightly, I can't be mistaken who the person was. Having his long white satin robe gave me questions in my mind.

"Why?"

***

"Reverend Scott?" I saw Asst. McLinn standing at the entrance of a hallway. I don't care what she wants to say to the reverend as I felt my knees trembled and find myself settled at one of the long benches.

A while ago, I blamed the reverend because of his sloppy work. Now, I'm here pleading to him to stop these works of the devil nightmares and hallucinations. I even told him hurtful words in my head, but fortunately, I did not say it. I indeed have sinned against the above.

"Rebecca, let her in." I heard the reverend's voice approaching. He probably went to the assistant's position. But who's Rebecca, by the way? Is that the actual name of Asst. McLinn?

"Romu?" called by the reverend. I lifted my head and looked at his place. My forehead knitted as he knew my name even though I didn't introduce myself.

I ignored the question in my mind and answered the reverend.

"I will heal you both," he said assuredly. Knowing that he'll heal me gave me hope but then, what does he mean by both? There's no one with me. I came here alone as I don't have any colleagues.

My question to him did not happen when he left me alone. Okay. It's pretty scary. Quiet surroundings. Eerie feeling. A church. I'm not a scaredy-cat, but the setting makes me one.

Suddenly, I heard consecutive footsteps echoing an unspecified hallway. It's reverberating through my veins. It was not a joke at all.

"Rebecca, lead her to him." The voice of Reverend Scott stops my train of thought. Who's her?

A woman in her black v-neck tee, pants, and boots step aside on my right. She is letting his greyish color hair in a bun. I also saw some dark circles under her eyes. and she looked pale and lost some weight. I think she is facing something. She looks straight ahead.

"May the above guide you." Reverend Scott suddenly arrived, motioning his hands above us. Then stated his prayers for the both of us.

I gaze on the woman's side and saw her closing her eyes and mumbling something. She surely wants to be healed fast.

Reverend Scott holds our shoulder together, and the same warm passed through me, and the feeling of relief and calmness touches my heart.

"Come." He invited us to the platform. The woman did not hesitate and followed Reverend Scott, and I followed too. The natural spotlight lightens our position.

"Do not hesitate; do not fear. The above never fails to take care of his people." And as he did last time, he left us facing his back.

He's still rude and arrogant but helping those in need, knowing and understanding their situation. I can't believe him, his attitude, I mean.

The woman beside me flinched and stated her sentences.

"The above surely believe in his people's loyalty and letting his guidance be the reward."
