7 Chapter 7: Jumping into Buckets.

The first thing Amy felt as she laid down in a straight position with her hands folded on top of one another, was the softness of the material she was lying on. Her eyes were closed but strange fragrances assailed her nostrils from different sides.

She still had all her memories of all that had happened, so Amy was slightly curious to know what was happening around her since the atmosphere was relatively quiet except for a few sobs that were coming from some distance away.

Her eyes remained close but Amy became increasingly curious to know who the people were and why they were crying.

After deciding to first of all, take a peek without arousing suspicion, she slightly opened her right eye, blinking and stretching it back and forth to figure out where she was.

Amy instantly saw a lot of people dressed in black holding candles as they gathered a few steps away from where she was lying down.

But that wasn't the weirdest thing that scared her. What startled her the most and almost made her jerk upright was when she looked at where she was lying on.

Amy was shocked to see that she was laid on a big wooden pyre with dozens of flowers spread beneath her.

The first thing she thought of was that she was being sacrificed until she suddenly heard a woman cry out.

"My child, Mayami. I can't believe she's gone,"

Then it suddenly occurred to her that it must be a funeral.

Amy was still thinking of the best way to stand up and reveal that the owner of the body she was in was alive when with one eye open she saw a man draw closer to her with a touch.

The man was dressed in some form of white clerical robes with crosses all over it and a sash around his waist.

Without seeing any need to keep thinking, she immediately opened her eyes and lifted her upper body up before the man could get any closer and intentionally light her on fire.

The moment she stood up screams filled the air as both men and women dropped the various candles they had been holding and fled.

It was an open field, most likely the place where bodies were cremated after dying yet some people still managed to get to the end of it

even though a minute hadn't even gone by.

As she moved and looked around at both the strange people that remained around her that she had never seen before and the priestly man standing in front of her, muttering some strange words under his breath, she also checked her arm that had been infected only to discover that it was healed and it was almost like she had never been scratched.

" Mayami, is that you? Is that really you," asked a woman wearing a black outfit with a small hat as she tried to move closer to the pyre I was sitting on but was constantly being held back by her husband.

"Thankfully, I still have the memories of the woman's body I'm currently occupying. If not, the priest looks likes the moment I make any wrong move, he's prepared to cast me back to the land of the undead where he thinks I came from," thought Amy as she decided to continue sitting there until everyone accepted her revival.

"It's me, Mother," I said trying my best to tear up, and quickly produce some convincing tears.

"Father? Why am I here? What happened to me?" I said looking at the man beside mother with tear-filled eyes.

If anyone was to believe that Mayami really came back from the dead then it would be her parents.

I then remained silent as I patiently waited for one of them to say something.

Unsurprisingly, after a while, my new mother started moving towards me but before she had taken more than two steps, two men wearing the same clerical robes as the priest suddenly appeared.

However, the only thing that differentiated them from the priest was the fact that they were armed to the teeth.

Different daggers of various sizes were placed at their sides and a black sash with numerous pockets was thrown across their chest.

"We saw the signal you sent," said one of the men that just arrived as he walked quickly towards the priest.

He had black hair and a star-crossed sign was plastered on his forehead and everything about him looked menacing.

The priest he spoke to quickly pointed to me without saying a word as me sitting down awake on the pyre was self-explanatory on its own.

" Wow...she awoke? That is just crazy but maybe she was never really dead," said the other man as he moved closer to where I was.

He also had black hair but was slightly taller than the other one. Also, he smiled and had a kind look on his face as he appraised me with his blue eyes before turning to look at my parents as they were the only set of people that decided to stay close to me.

" Excuse me but I would have to perform a quick spirit ritual on her to confirm that she is really your daughter and then I'll be out of your hair," he said trying to put my parents at ease, talking gently to them.

They quickly nodded, showing their approval as they wanted nothing more but to have their beloved daughter back.

While the other spoke, the other frowning and intimidating man stood a few steps behind his partner with one of his hands on his daggers as he waited patiently for his partner to finish talking to the parents and start the ritual.

Meanwhile, I sat on the pyre gripping the white lace gown I was dressed in, tightly in my hand as I panicked and tried to stop my hand and body from shaking.

"There is no way in hell that I am Miranda and from the look on the other partner's face, if I am found to be anything but who I said I was, they have every intention of ending my life," thought Amy as she tried her best to look calm as several fearful thoughts ran in her head.

"Why must everything be so hard, it's like jumping from one bucket full of monsters into another filled with people that want to kill you," Amy silently lampooned, feeling a strong urge to scream aloud.
