4 Carry

"Did he realize that it was me?" the woman sitting in front of him asked.

"No, he didn't." Carry replied.

"Well, that's good then."

"I think he suspected something, but he didn't realize. It could be because of the perfume you were wearing." He added.

"Oh, yes. I applied it out of habit, and I didn't think I would bump into him in the hospital today."

He didn't say anything and just stood there as she smoked her cigarette.

"Would you like one?" She asked offering him the box of cigarettes sitting on the table by her bed.

"No, Thank you." He politely declined. "I quit smoking." He was a heavy smoker back in the day, but after he watched his father die from lung cancer, he vowed never to smoke again.

"Oh, you should've told me then." She said, putting out her cigarette in the ashtray by the box of cigarettes on the table.

"No, it is completely fine." He replied with a smile. "Would you like me to do anything else for you?"

"No, nothing else, just close the door on your way out."

He nodded and then then left the room closing the door after him.
