29 Moving Out (I)

Moving far from my parents isn't as lenient as I expected and I reckon that it would be easier. However, Jungmin and I are independent since we can take care of ourselves. In this case, the apartment that we rent hasn't fully equipped. It only has a toilet bowl, sinks, shower, and lights. The owner of the place told us that it was a new apartment so expect that it is not fully equipped.

So, we decide to go to the Mall to buy the necessities for the apartment. "Do we need to buy some carpet?" My mother asks us.

"I want to have carpet in my room and we could also buy some plants for the decoration on our terrace and the whole apartment." They nod as they agree to my idea.

When I was in Korea, I had this enthusiasm with plants and flowers and decorated my rooms which were fine by my parents, also it's my mother's hobby. Jungmin, on the other hand, loves to destroy my flowers just to tease me and I was very upset since it's a brand new flower.

"MinMin, you're spaced out!" Jungmin shales my shoulder as he snaps me into a reality.

"Sorry, what did you say?" He sighs and points to the carpet on the last aisle. We both stroll into the last aisle.

I glimpse as I touch the carpet. It has cotton which is very smooth and soft, and it's color lavender.

"Do you want that?" I smile at Jungmin and give him a quick nod. He, then, places the carpet out of the aisle and places it beneath the cart. After, we reap the covers for the beds and pillows.

Thereafter, we step inside the cyber section to purchase portable computers for our online class that will start after the preliminary examination. I'm kind of excited about an online class considering I have a lot of time for myself. Then, I'm thinking of having a part-time job so we don't need to ask for an allowance.

We're not deprived of expensive treats and the things that we don't usually need yet when it comes to a book and my heart craves for it, then I'll buy the book.

"We also need to buy groceries so you two have food in the apartment." My father says as he brings us to a Korean restaurant.

"I miss Korean foods." I sigh with contentment inside me as we sit down beside the glass window. Later, the waitress bestows us the menu.

"Minnie, we should eat buldak, it's very popular in Korea."

"I know that but I can't eat much spice since they're bad for me," Jungmin mutters whilst caressing his stomach as if he's hungry.

"Okay, no spicy food. We should get fried rice, bulgogi, and our all-time favorite, gimbap." I tell my suggestion as I grin at the menu.

"We should get Korean barbeque like we used to order back in Korea, also the cold noodles." My mother suggests. Afterward, my father calls the waitress. As she walks closer to us, my father states our order and gives the menu to the waitress.

"We should get some cabbage that I could prepare the kimchi so you can store your fridge in the apartment." My mother utters. When we first got landed in Oregon, the first thing my mother made was kimchi since it's our side dish when we're eating together.

I take multiple glances at the person, who's walking towards us while carrying the food. And when he places all the food on our table, I take a close look at the person and I'm not mistaken, it's Minseok.

"Minseok? What are you doing here?" I implore.

"I'm doing a part-time job with Daewool and Mingyu so we could afford the equipment that we need to produce music." He announces as he smiles at me.

"You're producing music? That's great!" Jungmin exclaims. My father glances at Minseok and smiles at him.

"You know that my offer is still open, Minseok." My father states. I almost forget my father considers Taehyung and his friends as his son.

"Mr. Jeon, you know I can't do that. You and your wife paying our tuition fees, apartment and even giving us an allowance. It is too much for us to accept more." Minseok says.

"I know but you and your brothers are my families so I will do my best to give what you all need." My mother utters.

"It's okay Mrs. Jeon. Thank you for the offer." He mumbles and looks to the counter—seeing Daewool sulking at the counter."

"I should get back, Daewool is mad right now. It's his time to have a break."

"You should tell Daewool to eat with us so we could have a chat," Jungmin asserts. He, then, nods before taking his leave.

As when we start eating, I hear someone calling my name. My eyes wander to search for the person and turn out, it's Daewool, who's smiling at me while waving. I sign him to join us and he accepts the offer happily and sits beside me.

"Daewool, nice to see you again." My mother tells while smiling.

"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Jeon. Minseok told me that I should join you at lunchtime."

"I was the one who told it," I comment. He hums as he takes the chopsticks beside Jungmin.

"I know. Why do I need to join your peaceful lunch? Did you know that I need to have 20 hours of sleep?" He scoffs. My father laughs when hearing Daewool snort and my mother gives the rice to him so Daewool accepts the rice politely.

"Sorry, I didn't know you are a kitten." I tease as he rolls his eyes at me and takes a bite of his rice with meat.

"I'm not a kitten. I'm a person who lives freely and peacefully but you got that away, Miss Minsoo." He states.

"I heard that you're producing music," Jungmin utters as he feeds himself.

"I am. Why?"

"If you need a singer, I volunteer myself to be a tester of your music," Jungmin volunteers as Daewool nods, concedes to be his singer.

"Also we can talk about the play that we need to perform for the next week's examination. I have a few ideas for the play and I hope we are complete for the meeting so we could start rehearsing the play." I announce.

"Okay, I'll tell Taehyung to attend. Also, Jungmin will text us the meeting place for the rehearsal." Says Daewool. Jungmin and I both nod as agreeing with him

After a long and tiring day, I pack all the things that I need for my lessons and my everyday clothes so I'm not hustling when we move out tomorrow at the apartment. My parents volunteer to put our purchased stuff inside the apartment.

When I finish packing my things, I sit down on the couch where it places beside my window. This is becoming my habit when I'm stressed out or I need to clear my mind.

"I will be missing this spot. My favorite spot." I whisper as I lean my head to the edge of the window.

"Minsoo?" I glimpse behind and there, I see my mother standing beside the door.

"Mom." I utter. She smiles as she walks towards and sits beside me. Her hands clasp both hands.

"My baby." I smile when hearing her soothing voice.

"Thank you for being so patient with me when I'm feeling down and defiant," I let out as I continue holding her hands.

"You are my lovely daughter so whatever you did, I will always, here for you, and to push you on the right path. I can't let my babies choose the wrong path."

"Mom, I'm sorry again for being unruly and didn't listen to you and especially to my twin brother. I didn't realize all my action sooner so it didn't happen to me or Jungmin." I murmur as I strive my tears to rush down my cheeks yet I can't. I feel overwhelmed knowing that my parents are not given up on me.

"I know you are sorry and I know you love your brother that's why you are doing the right thing. You are a very strong woman, Minsoo and I love you." I smile as my tears rush down through my cheeks. She chuckles and wipes all my tears.

"I love you too, Mom," I pull my mother into an embrace.
