4 Chapter 4

Noah made his way out the door hiding his wrist, ashamed of what he'd done. About half way down the stairs, there was a knock at the door. Mr.Lee opened the door and welcomed the Greens into the house. Alec turned his head and saw Noah. His face lit up and he couldn't help but smile. Noah just stared at the visitors, then continued to walk down stairs to greet them. He introduced himself to Alec's father. After a brief chat they all went to the dinning room to eat. Noah sat as far away from his father as possible. Mr.Lee and Mr.Green chatted as Mrs.Green settled Melody. Alec sat himself next to Noah. "Where's the restroom?" said Alec. "Down the hall" said noah's father "Noah could you show Alec to the bathroom?" "Of course.." Noah responded. The boys stood up and Noah lead the way down the hall. They arrived at a large door. As noah went to open it, his sleeve pulled back, just enough to see the cut. Alec eyes widened. "What's that" he says grabbing Noah's wrist. "It's nothing" Noah quickly pulls his wrist away from Alec's reach. Alec gives Noah a sad look and pulls him into the bathroom.

"What the?! Why'd you do that?!" says Noah.

"We need to clean your cut" Alec says while rolling up Noah's sleeve.

Noah looks nervous and shocked. Alec reaches over to the soap dispenser and squirts soap onto a paper towel, then proceeded to place the towel onto the cut.

"OW!" Noah says shouting in pain. "Sshh!, the adults will hear you." Alec says placing his hand on Noah's mouth. "Right..sorry" Noah mumbles.

"When did you do it?" Alec asked.

"... Thirty minutes before you got here.."  

"Was it because of your mom..?" Alec says looking into Noah eye's

"I didn't realize what I did until after I did it.. If mom hadn't… if she didn't kill herself, i wouldn't have done it." there was a pause, "And if dad wouldn't act like nothing had happened I wouldn't of threw the picture."  Noah says avoiding eye contact.

"So you used a broken picture frame to cut your wrist and you didn't even realize you were doing it?" Alec says restateing Noah's story. Noah nods. He feels uneasy but comfortable. Suddenly Alec hugs Noah. He felt tear drops drip on his back. "Alec w..what's wrong?! Did I do something?!"

"You did nothing. I'm just sad that you hurt yourself." Alec continued to cry, "Please don't do it again! Just call me when you are sad! I'll come straight over! Just please don't cut!" Alec shouted.

"I promise I won't do it again." Noah embraced Alec and held him tightly. "I'm sorry." he pleaded

They stood there hugging for what seemed like forever.
